do you ever Buy autographs?

In regards to buying autographs: although it is much less expensive (and often a bigger thrill) to receive autographs through the mail, this isn't always possible. For example... If you are an avid baseball collector you cannot just 'write' off to Babe Ruth -as he is deceased!
To an avid collector they dont just want the current baseball squad, they want as many baseballers who have played the game(which requires money).
Although I am not a baseball collector, this case can be used for most sporting codes, the trick (as 'rpbluesman' correctly stated)
is to buy from a reputable dealer (where in all likelyhood you will pay through the nose!) with the correct documentation, giving you piece of mind in that what you have bought is the 'genuine article'.
I don't agree necessarily agree with 'rpbluesman' on his last statement

For example... if you have just "Store Bought" a Marlon Brando signed photograph to compliment your Al Pacino signed picture (from the mail) and are making a centrepiece on 'The Godfather' I would be quite happy knowing that my "store bought" signature has finished off my collection!

Hi All

I don't on the whole buy autographs on Ebay, but it can be quite a useful place to get photos from.

For example when I was trying to get a collection together for an auction of Coronation Street memorabilia earlier in the year, I needed a signed photo of Lucy-Jo Hudson (Killer Katy). Unfortunately she had left the soap, so I had to get hold of a picture of her as the character.

I found one on Ebay and sent it off to her at her agent where she kindly signed it! The auto picture made a really welcome addition to the lot!

True. Quite True. I meant to add that to my post. I was half asleep when I made my post. I agree with you totally. If you buy an auto and it furnishes your collection, then it would make little difference. A true example would be that I really want James Doohan's autograph. I have found one that I could buy. So if I get it, it would make little difference to me whether or not it was actually by my request or my purchase.
