Then get a sketchpad and start drawing. If you don't care who these people are then you don't need to be writing to them. If you're a fan of someone, then write them a letter. Don't write to people just to get a free sketch.Phillies747 wrote:Can you please name one, I am new to this, but I want to get some cool sketches for free.darryl-zero wrote:All of the successful sketches I've reported on here are on 8x10 sketchbook paper that I send along with a book. Re: Comic Book Collectors
Kickstarter Project: Short-packed Book 4 success.
http://www.shortpacked.com/ the best nerd web-comic out there.

What is Kickstarter? http://www.kickstarter.com/
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects.
We believe that:
• A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.
Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
I helped fund this project and got a sketched addition of the book and mention in the credits.

Yep, Kickstarter is pretty cool. I'm backing a documentary about Chris Claremont and the X-Men. My pledge gets me a signed copy of the dvd, a digital download a month before it's released and a thanks in the credits.

Wow man, you make us Phils fans seems even worse then we are nationally perceived. My direct quote, "I've reported on here ", means that if you go through this thread, you'll see the successes that I have reported, as well as the successes that everyone else has reported. Dude, do you want us to go to the post office for you too? If you need an address, that's one thing, but come on.

Wow ... No wonder I rarely visit this forum anymore. The majority of you are turning into a pack of rabid douchebags only interested in bragging about your score or ripping on someone else's post.
I think some of you need to get out of your mom's basement more often and interact with the real world on more than just Wednesdays.
Yeah, he asked a silly question but we've all asked silly questions or worded them incorrectly.

Re: Comic Book Collectors
He asked a lazy and opportunistic question about how he could take advantage of the generosity of certain people in order to indiscriminately get sketches from anybody and everybody he can. That kind of attitude quickly turns off any interest artists have in replying to fans. In short, it ruins the chances of true fans to get an autograph or sketch. If you don't even know who the person you are writing to is, then you don't need to be writing to them. I certainly won't help them out and I don't blame anyone else who feels the same way.revenantmedia wrote:Wow ... No wonder I rarely visit this forum anymore. If you are going to write to someone and request an autograph/ sketch/ anything, then you should at least respect the person enough to look at their work and become somewhat familiar with it. The real douchebags are the ones who look for free handouts from anybody they can simply because they are free.

Re: Comic Book Collectors
Got my Greg Capullo request back today. He signed a Spawn card and did a sketch of Batman! Stoked about this one.
The card I was sent was an old PowerCardz game card. I have some Marvel Recharge cards going out to some other artists. I've seen others post some successes with those cards. How well do the sigs come out on those?

Scifi, comic books and a few other areas are my interests in autograph collecting. If you want to talk feel free to pm me.
