What's the longest any of y'all have ever waited on a response TTM?

I started collecting in July of last year, and I have recieved quite a few back, but my concern is that I won't see half of the cards I've sent out.

I've got cards out now that have been out since I started doing this, and I'm just kind of, I don't know, worried or aggravated that I will never see said cards again. (Most of them aren't really worth anything, but I am a pretty avid collector of cards, and it's a little aggravating to see them go away with no hope of seeing them again.)

Apart from that, does anyone have any advice for someone in my position? (Impatient, aggravated, and kind of new to the whole concept.)

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!
Trust me, even the most patient of us have had our times where we've gotten frustrated. Right now I have a ton of stuff pending, and it's hard to wait it out. I've had to wait almost a year before getting a success, and I know that some other people on this thread have waited even longer than that.

Unfortunately, you are going to have a lot that either get lost in the mail, kept by the athlete you send to or just tossed in the trash all together. For that reason, you never want to send anything out that you aren't prepared to lose. I've taken a couple of chances on items I wish I'd never sent. Even if they won't sign, it doesn't mean they'll send it back to you.

Best advice I can give is to try to be patient and hold out hope. I think that TTM responses for the NFL this year have been longer than in years past. Maybe that's a byproduct of the lockout, maybe it's a trend, not too sure. Trust me when I say this, it's a great feeling when you go to the mailbox and get a response that you thought was long gone turn out to be a success. Hang in there, we're all in the same boat with you.
Some favorites from my collection, so far, are...

Favorite IP Autographs: Chris Cooley, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Faith Hill, John Riggins, Bruce Smith

Favorite TTM Autographs: Stephen Davis, Jim Lachey, Peyton Manning, Mark McGwire, Chris Samuels

Favorite Sports Teams: Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox

Does anyone have an address for former Tennessee/Pitt coach Johnny Majors? I saw it on SCN once, but I have lost the address I wrote down.

I feel your pain. I have a mini helmet to Bruce Smith out, a mini helmet to William Perry out, and a SI with Jordy Nelson's auto already on it to Randall Cobb out. I'm sweatin the Bruce Smith. Not as bad bad as I was since people who sent to him the same time as I have gotten responses, but I'm sweatin. It's all a part of it. Be patient. I've had Shawn Kemp, Don Shula, and Bob Griese ALL take over a year to come back. I had forgotten all of them. I even resent to Don shula, and it arrived before the previous attempt!

Probably the best "big ticket item" that I've gotten back (so far) is a 1970 SI with Alex Karras on the cover. I was pretty pumped when it came back signed, and I'm thankful he was so cool about it.

I guess I just get impatient about some of this stuff, because I read some of the posts, and I see these guys that have super immediate turn arounds like "I sent it out 12-10-11 and got it back 12-19!"

Some of these I just am incredulous about, but then again, I did send one out to Archie Manning and got it roughly five days later... who knows?
Favorites TTM: Terry Bradshaw (card 3x) Tedy Bruschi (Card / 8x10), Mike Ditka (card), Alex Karras (SI 1970), Archie Manning (card), Matt Schaub (card)
Favorites In Person: Michael Brooks, Matt Stover, Karl Malone, Andrew McMahon (Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin), Eve 6, Fred Dean, Ryan Moats
Currently Seeking: Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, any of the 1970s Steelers, Any players that attended Louisiana Tech University

I am in the same boat as you are. I once was sending to Bonilla whos average wait tine is 2 weeks, at about 2 months I bought his autograph on eBay the next day, the TTM came back signed from him. Right now i've been writing off Matt Barkley, Dirk Nowitzki, Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Frank Gore.

I waited 579 days for a response recently.

I started collecting in July of last year, and I have recieved quite a few back, but my concern is that I won't see half of the cards I've sent out.
You're right. You'll lose about half of what you send out. I tracked my successes these past two years and I hover right at about 52% on autographed returns on 300+ attempts.

Never risk anything you are afraid you may never get back. Cards however can be replaced. I've had to go to my local card shoppe or Beckett to reacquire cards that were 'lost' to send out again. Unfortunately unforeseen stuff does happen. Who knows why Shadow did not get back his Warren Moon autograph. I got 4 cards super fast while he's still waiting.

Apart from that, does anyone have any advice for someone in my position? (Impatient, aggravated, and kind of new to the whole concept.)
Go to sportscollectors.net or scf and get a free account. Start tracking players and their response times. This way you can sorta get a feel for players, because most of them don't sign everyday. They sign in spurts. If he isn't signing, don't sweat it. "Strike while the iron is hot." The reason I get fast responses is I mix in a couple of fast response players in there with 100+ day guys. That keeps me from going terminal. If you see that a player is signing all of a sudden you want, shoot something out to him ASAP so that you can get in line. Know what to expect from each player as some of them don't sign TTM at all.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!
Got Orson Mobley in 8 days today. (Big blocking TE who used to play for the Broncos during their 80s SB runs.)
Got Dominc Rhodes in 100 days via the Destroyers. (Colts/Raiders/Bills/Colts) (UFL- Tuskers, Destroyers)

Agreed with what everyone has said. If you don't want to lose it, don't send it!

I know it isn't NFL, but today I received Al Golden, head coach of the Miami Hurricanes today! Sent an email on January 23rd. Said I was a big Miami fan in Gator Country, so he added the inscription "We got your back up there!" Cool success! Made my night!
