agreed...well put
Re: Do you ever feel embarrased about collecting autographs?
Sort of.
It's not something I announce, but not something I deny either. Though, I could probably say that about a number of my hobbies.

I'm slightly embarassed yes...mainly because I'm 16 and I feel like I'm too old to write to celebrities, I always thought only 12 year olds did that...although I was proven wrong when I discovered this site!
At first my mom didnt like me doing it, but now that I've started getting stuff back, she actually thinks it's cool, and gets excited for me! My friends that I've told think it's cool...I've only told them about the most famous celebs I've wrote to though. My cousin(who is one of my best friends) knows everyone that I've wrote to, and she thinks it's so awesome that shes about to start collecting herself! I even helped her buy envelopes {thumb2}
As for the post office, I hardly ever go there. I put the envelopes in my mailbox to be picked up, works for me. I don't buy stamps at the post office, I buy them at CVS or the grocery store.

I'm a little embarassed to share my autograph hobby in my school. I just keep it to myself and my family. Autograph collecting is like my secret hobby that I totally enjoy. I love it because not all people do it. It's unique. It's like you have a simple purpose. Once you received an autograph, you'll be happy! I usually take time to write a nice letter, then I put it in our mailbox and done! I always check for our mailbox mondays to saturdays for autographs and if ever I had one, I'll be jumping for joy. I always ask my mom to buy me stamps since I don't want to go to the post office. I haven't had a lot of autographs yet, but if I had, I'll be happy to share it with my friends!
But on the other hand, sometimes, people won't believe you right? I was wondering like what missmaerox said, her other friends don't believe the autographs. It might be hard to explain because you didn't meet the celebrity/band in person so you don't have proof. I was wondering what you'll do if ever your stuck in the same situation?

Re: Do you ever feel embarrased about collecting autographs?
When I was collecting in 2006 I used to tell everyone! My friends never thought it was silly or anything and they loved to see my latest successes. But now that I've started collecting again I have only told my boyfriend and my Dad. My boyfriend thinks it's cool and I've got him into it a bit too lol, he asks me every so often if I could send off for a certain autograph for him, and I have also sent off a few that I know he'd love as a surprise for him. I just don't feel the need to tell any of my friends now, I don't think it really concerns them.
I do feel a little silly when I'm buying a book of stamps and the person says "you got a lot of letters to send?". It happens most times that I buy stamps! I just say yes and walk off lol, I don't fancy going into detail with them! Also, if ever I'm posting a few requests in one go and I have a bunch of envelopes in my hand people seem to stare for some reason, it's like they've never seen so many before
I wouldn't exactly say I'm embarrassed, I just prefer to keep it to myself. It's my hobby and anyone I told wouldn't really understand anyway. That's why I like to come on here and discuss with other collectors because we know what we're talking about!

I'm a little embarassed, to be honest. When i have a job interview, and they ask what your interest is. I will never say i like writting letter to celebs
. It doesn't sound good as a hobby, i am afraid the interviewer may think i am immature or childish to have such hobby, so i have to have to say something more common, like collecting stamps and reading books......

Re: Do you ever feel embarrased about collecting autographs?
Yes, I am fricking embarassed. I wasn't at first, but then I (being an idiot) thought if I tell people, they would find it cool. No they didn't. I just got beat up for being a sad fool. People can be so heartless. Now I never mention it in school, and when I go to my postbox which is a 5 minute walk away from my house, I have to hide my letters under my top in case anyone sees the name of who I'm writing to. Even my friends think I'm sad. And it is so bad when I get my letters weighed when I am sending abroad. The post office worker always gives me funny looks when I go and get them weighed. One time she just stared at the address/letter for what seemed like a whole minute for no reason. That was so embarassing. At least my family support me. My sister worships my collection, but cannot be arsed to write letters for herself. That's my rant. Your turn.

Not really. I have friends that make fun of me for doing it, and then I told them that I received Rob Pattinson's autograph and they asked me if I got them one lol. I think it's quite pathetic when people bring it into conversations in attempt to embarrass me, because it does not at all.

Aamir you don't have to put up with that buddy {thumb2} Don't let anyone make fun of you for any reason. Kids can be really cruel but they're probably jealous as hell really! You've got a great hobby that you're passionate about and you've got mates on here too! I got so much crap when I was a kid too coz I was in to old movies and singing. The people that bullied me have even told me on facebook that they only did it out of jealousy coz me and my little group of friends always seemed so happyaamir wrote:Yes, I am fricking embarassed. Sorry, but I really can't get how you can be embarrased for collecting autographs - it surely is by far the best thing to collect {thumb2}
