Re: Star Wars success
So I officially have Star Wars autograph fever now.....I'm going to try a couple more TTM requests over the next few days. First up is John Williams. From what I have seen, he doesn't typically sign items that you send to him -- but you can pretty much be guaranteed to receive a 5x7 pre-signed card. I do notice that he sometimes includes notes from one of his compositions and sometimes he doesn't. As a musician, it would be really cool to have the notes added.....does he even do that anymore? And is the Boston Symphony Orchestra address the best place to send to him?
Also, I'm seriously considering sending the print I just had signed by several people at Celebration V to James Earl Jones. I would LOVE to have his signature added to the print, but I'm a little nervous sending something like that with several other signatures TTM. Am I crazy for even considering sending it out? I have heard that you can communicate with Mr. Jones assistant about pieces like that before sending it out -- does anyone have an email address for his assistant that you wouldn't mind sharing through private message? Any other tips or suggestions for this one would be appreciated too.....even if your suggestion is "Don't Risk It!!!!".

Ive only sent to John Williams once, and got the 5x7 card, but no notes.
this is the address everyone seems to use...
C/C Boston Symphony Orchestra
Symphony Hall
301 Massachusetts Avenue
Boston, MA 02115
USA
and for the James Earl Jones one... personally I wouldn't risk it with an item like that. Jones is a really good signer, but you never know what might happen in the mail.

He will now be my next attempt

Re: Star Wars success
Thanks for the advice Rocksoldier! I'm going back and forth about sending my print with all the signatures to Mr. Jones....I LOVE the idea of having his signature on it, but the risk scares me to death. I know I would be a nervous wreck waiting for a few weeks/months wondering whether or not I would get it back!rocksoldier wrote:

I did just send a request out to John Williams on Friday, so I hope to get something back from him soon. Even if I just get the standard 5x7 with no notes, I'll still be thrilled to add him to my collection.
Also, I just added a few other Star Wars autographs that I received at SWCV to my website -- links below if anyone is interested.
Ray Park:

Ralph McQuarrie (signed, limited edition 10x20 Metallix print):

Re: Star Wars success
I sent a couple of SW widevision cards to Richard LeParmentier (Admiral Motti) June, 10, 2009.
I got this message from him on Facebook today...
>Dear Jeff,
>
>Your letter with the three Topps cards has just caught up with me.
>As you may know, we must charge for autographs on Star Wars merchandise.
>If you still want all three cards signed, the charge would be $30.00 each including postage.
>
>Regards,
>Richard LeParmentier
ummm... NO lol
Just ridiculous
And I will be writing him back saying no thanks, and please return the cards with the SAE and money I included for return postage.

Re: Star Wars success
Wow, that's kind of rude to him. I don't understand why they have to 'charge' for signed photos, I mean you sent your own items and a way for him to reply back. plus to be honest, his part in SW was really short.
Maybe it's his management's rules, but lots of SW performers sign for a fee at conventions, yet still sign for FREE any other time.

this is what I wrote back to him...
------------------------------
Mr. LeParmentier,
I can not pay $30 per card. Please use the self addressed envelope and money that was included with the cards for return postage to return them to me unsigned.
I am just a big Star Wars fan who happens to be unemployed, and can not afford to attend conventions, or collect figures and all of the other merchandise. Collecting autographs is my way of enjoying Star Wars, and all I can do is send a request and ask nicely.
I had long since written this attempt off as a failure anyway since it has been 16 months from the date I mailed it.
Have a wonderful day.
Jeff

I did cut some stuff i initially wrote about him trying to rip of fans of a movie he was just lucky enough to have a bit part in. lol
Re: Star Wars success
I recently purchased a photo from David Prowse's official website because I noticed they were on sale. Today I recieved it signed and personalized saying the force is strong with you. I am trying to start collecting star wars autographs, and thought that was a good place to start.
Re: Star Wars success
Very cool! My grandpa is meeting him this week in New Jersey!
