Mjr Frank Burns wrote:Wait, I am confused - Did you SEND this back in 2003, or were you just making reference to it being "available" in 03? Is this a RECENT success??? Please shed some light ... Thanks {up}

Sorry for the confusion. I sent the letter in 03' and received the response the same year. The reason I specifically mentioned the year was because his personal address was only available then. He removed it from public view the following year. Just thought it would be a nice addition to this topic.

I believe I've read on here some people use baby powder on a slick card. Also someone mentioned an eraser but i think you gotta be real careful. Maybe someone can confirm one of these two for you

Yeah send directly to Mickie's house in VA. Those have gotten great results.

The two tricks I use are:

1.) the eraser method-it's best to use a white or clear eraser. Either quality rubber or plastic. Almost any good eraser will work, just don't use the one on top of a pencil (as this could wear down and you'd scratch the card with the surrounding metal). And don't use one of those hard, cheap erasers they sell beside the colored pencils and such. They could scratch the card.

2.) the facial oils method-I know it sounds disgusting, but it works. We all have oils on our face, particularly the forehead and the sides of the nose (plus I shave my head, so I can do a ton of cards at a time! :lol: ) Just use two fingers, rub the oils from your skin onto the card (I use a circular motion, just to cover everything, but it probably doesn't matter). Then wipe off on your shirt...and no, you won't see it on your shirt. Something about the oils break down the gloss. Try it first on a couple cards you have extras of. You may not be able to see the difference, but when you see the difference of how the sharpie takes to the card, you'll believe it.

Good luck.

a really soft eraser works well

or rub baby powder all over the card, messier but works.

I personally use a soft eraser, a couple strokes up and down the card does the trick-- quick and easy

While watching Raw and seeing Lillian Garcia filling in, I wondered if anyone has an address for her.
So, if anyone does, please feel free to post. I'd appreciate it.
