That's a tough one. For me it could be triggered by a couple of factors:

1) Well over a year- although I think I got one a few months ago that was over 400 days old.

2) Since I've sent it to them a few months ago, people are now getting RTS, etc on other boards using that same address.

3) Since I've sent it to them 6 months ago, people are getting autographs back over the last month after a short wait.

4) People are getting autographs from a different address than the one I sent to and they are coming back in an extremely short period of time.

5) Reading in other places that the player is a stupidly hard person to get to sign TTM, such as Warren Sapp for example, after I have already sent it to them.

Oddly I don't consider an RTS a failure, because I got my cards back. I think of those as 'retrys', but most people think otherwise.

I would like to help you out but I haven't really done much ttm c/o home. The ones I have done are pretty reliable. Now through teams it has taken years for me to het some stuff back it usually depends on how big of a star the player is. Recently I did a little research with wiki/lost letterman/white pages and tried a few players like that which to me is kinda bordering on being a stalker so I'm not really comfortable with it. Hopefully I'll be successful, and not p*ss anyone off too much. Now I'm curious how do other people feel about doing a little "research" to get home addys? Do u think it's a little creepy?

I totally agree, I'd much rather get a RTS than just not get anything back at all. At least my cards/photos came back and I can still use the SASE for a later request. Thanks for the input!

I just recently started sending to home addresses for current players, and have had a couple successes. I did feel weird about it at first, but I just figure the ones that don't want to be bothered will either just result in a RTS or just not getting anything back at all. I kind of take a "the ball is in your court" philosophy on it. I think for retired players it's a little bit better, because a lot of those guys don't mind signing and are happy to be remembered for their playing days.

So I'm going to keep sending to home addresses, but still feel like c/o team is the more reliable way to go for most current players.

I would give up on a request based on certain variables:

If the player is known to sign and take a long time (someone like Chris Cooley) then I would give up after 13-14 months. If they are a current player (that's not known to take a long time) then I would probably give up after 8 months or so. If they are retired then about 6 months.

Also does anyone know where I could find addresses for UFL teams, I'm hoping to send to a few players.

Check out my site: http://myttmmailday.blogspot.com/

I post all of my TTM successes and pictures on there.

***Want to help the less fortunate? Now you can, for every time that you click an ad on my website, all of the money made will be donated to charity. It takes virtually no time at all to help. If you go to my site and want to help out, just click a few ads and help the less fortunate. My goal is to raise $100 by for people that are less fortunate than us. Thanks a ton!!!***

Also, I still haven't decided which charity I'm going to donate to. I was looking at heifer, but heard some negative things. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks for all of your help.

The addresses for most teams are on the UFL website under the team's Contact Us section. Be VERY careful when you send to the UFL and be sure the player is actually signed and not just claimed. For example, Pat White (former Dolphins/WVU QB) had his rights claimed by the Virginia Destroyers but has yet to actually sign. Just be sure to do your research.

UFL team addresses can also be located by going through their facebook pages.

I got frustrated with people not being able to answer my posts on here, even though I seemed to have every address for players they wanted. I started back up by 'stalking' players addresses utilizing a combination of their card/collegiate information and Facebook. It's tough to track down WLAF players and it feels much more accomplished when you get a response TTM than digging through a Meiselman list or reading through Sportscollectors.net postings, where Joe Blow lectures everybody about "How he's not a child" on every other success.
