Someone asked that question .. maybe not TWO pages ago on this thread so check it out. To sum it up, the PlaybillStore.com binders are a waste of money, just buy a regular binder / ACID-FREE sleeves. Or do what I/many do: Put them in a box or shelves.
I have skimmed through the last 10 pages or so, but I must have missed that, sorry. If I could one cheap, I might get one, as I like the idea of the inserts, but it's very expensive just for those and shipping to the UK will not be cheap either.

I'm not a huge fan of people selling autographs full stop really, as someone took the time to sign things, and I think it's low to ask for them to sell them. But it's crazy how many playbills I'm seeing on eBay that I'm also seeing being received relatively recently by people on here.

There are quite a few signed ones on ebay.com that are of current shows I would be interested in, and even though it will cost me less to buy them on eBay than the stamps I'll need to buy to put on my SAE, I wouldn't buy them on principal.

The only playbills I would want from ebay are signed ones of say Patti Lupone from an old show, or just playbills of old shows. I've just found one from 1981 for the Jerry Orbach 42nd Street, so I'm definitely going to buy that.

I bought several on eBay from shows years ago ... Jekyll & HYDE and The Scarlet Pimpernel Opening Nights, for instance..! No problems there.

Agreed: I usually only buy autos when they're signed by someone like Christine Ebersole in Grey Gardens because I barely missed seeing that one!

I received a playbill from Studio 54's Waiting for Godot. I have read that they are hard to obtain so I thought I'd post it in this thread. If you'd like to see my post in the via venue part, click here.

I also keep an updated list of the playbills I received on the first page of this thread. :)

Yes, ebay seems to be great for picking up older playbills. The variety from ebay.com is brilliant. I am toying with buying a signed Robert Preston playbill. I know it's not from the Music Man but he is the Music Man anyway.

Hey - Thakns for posting this! Perhaps it is to be assumed when the cast is as small as four / a PLAY that maybe they will sign. Never have I seen a MUSICAL sign from Studio 54, so if it's a play - people, try + gve it a go.

Yes...exactly you have NO idea about the economic problems the theatre productions have today. I cannot wiat for people like you until they start charging the $10 for charity. That's the way it should be anyway ... or for the people who do it so they can go from "14 Autogrpahs Collected" to "45 Autographs Collected"....joke.

And yes, .. look it up on eBay. The number of people who sell signed playbills is enourmous, and all they do is write this free request and sell it for $10-$50.

I feel like my point will never be made because the number of people on here who BS their letters to the stage managers/whatever has far outgrown my reach to slow down playbill requests. There are now people that have requested countless times and receiving them all back now...........

And if you bought a Brooke Shields or the Daniel Radcliff one while the show was on Broadway, that's just .. stupid on your part (since you could have written); if you waited until after it was closed to buy, I can understand (..even relate); that's all I'm asking. Hold off the sale of CURRENTLY RUNNING PRODUCTION playbills. That was the whole point.[/quote]

I did write to Daniel Radcliffe and I bought the Brooke Shields Playbill off Ebay and sent it to her to get signed. I have bought quite a few

autos off t;his site mainly because I missed getting the persons signature when they were signing. People might lose interest in collecting

autos and sell off their collections too. Theres 95% fake autos on Ebay also so u cant stop them popping up since people are making that

crap. Trust me if the celebrity signed their mail like Martin Sheen or Vivica Fox does then supply will meet demand and the signature is not

worth the sellers effort anymore. At that point only real fans will write.

BTW I dont collect Playbills unless a true celebrity is in the play as I said already. Sorry about the Economy its happened to everyone

everywhere. I bought and sent both Playbills as well so they didnt give me anything.

I really dont give a sh!t if a celeb does charge $10. Thats a fair price if I wanted a Playbill and to buy one off Ebay and send it costs me

nearly that much anyway.

I have a question regarding writing to a stage manager.

How do people address their letters? Do you start off Dear Sir/Madam, or can you find the stage mangers names? I did try looking on one theatre site, but without success.

Hi you theoretically address it to the Cast & Crew.

There is often more than one stage manager .. and it's usually the assistant stage managers/assistants back stage that handle these things, rather then the main one. People have no idea how much work stage managers actually do - so don't even bother looking up the stage manager's names, as there are several (usually atleast 2).

I did wonder if it was best to address it collectively to the people who worked on the show, but I read somewhere else this was not the case, so I was a bit confused as to what to do.

I honestly have no idea what a stage manager does - but I've never fully grasped what a film director does either, even though I have read about their job many times. It's all too complicated and too many instances of multi-tasking for me to comprehend the organization and work that goes into a show night after night after night.
