Re: Wrestling Collectors?
Got Rob Conway and Bill Cardille today.
Who is Bill Cardille, you ask?
Bill is one of the biggest legends in Pittsburgh broadcasting history. He's either in his very late '70s or early '80s and is still going strong with a daily radio show. He is most remembered for being a weatherman, being our local late-night horror host on his "Chiller Theater" show, but also for being the voice of studio wrestling in the '60s. That is what the Pittsburgh wrestling show was called, and to this day a lot of Pittsburghers 45 or so and up will refer to any professional wrestling as "studio wrestling." He is also the man responsible for the success of the Pittsburgh portion of the MDA telethon and has raised millions for Jerry's kids over the years. He's a true treasure, and I've always heard a total class act, so I figured I'd send to him at the radio station he still broadcasts from. I had two photos printed up of old ads for him hosting wrestling. Not only did he sign both beautifully for me (one in silver and one in red!), but he also sent me a beautifully hand written note thanking *me!* and signing both his name and his famous nickname..."Chilly Billy." Out of my hundreds of wrestling autographs...I have to say this one is pretty close to the top of the heap for me personally, as you can probably tell.

Re: Wrestling Collectors?
I've wanted to work the telethon since I was a little kid, and have an opportunity to do so through work this year. It's obviously not my goal by doing it, but I am hoping I'm able to get a photo with him afterward.ozzman wrote:Got Rob Conway and Bill Cardille today.

Either way good luck with both ends. The telethon and working with chilly billy. Like I said before, he is super nice and very approachable. I had the chance to meet him at a dinner a few years ago. Very polite and told me a few stories about working in wrestling and working on night of the living dead.
