What percentage of autographs do you expect to get? Like 80? 50? 30?

I send out a sase and letter. I only started in April and I've sent out about 80 letters I've gotten 3 back so far. So for those who have been collecting longer what do you normally expect back?

It all depends on who you write to. I'm a very "safe" collector. Most of the time I only write to people who are good signers. I don't mean I just write to any tom, dick or harry, I look up people I like and if they are good signers, I write to them and if they are bad signers, I tend to wait and see if someone else gets a success from them first and then use that address!

Therefore, after all that rambling, I get about 99% of mine back {thumb2}

For every ten requests I send out, I only expect about six of them to come back successful. So percentage-wise, 60% for me.

I usually expect that for every 5 letters or so I send out, I'll probably in the end get 3 back. So far I've probably sent out 30 letters in the past month and already gotten 2 back, but I also choose to only send to people who are verified to sign authentically TTM, I don't bother with sending to someone who only sends Preprints.

There are a number of factors determining your percentage of autographed replys

Where you ive (I ive way away from USA, and Great Britain down here in NZ so i have a ess chance of getting a repy as someone in the US or UK.

Who you write to, different stars reply better than others

Luck, youve got to have some luck to get those autos that not everyone gets back, ive had a few great autos which i thought were a 50-50 chance of getting!

I write to football players mostly and when I first started collecting, my expectation rate was about 95%, now it is down to about 60%

For now I'm writing to celebs that I like who I've read on here that have a high success rate of signing. I've sent out 25 in the last week and already got one back. So I'm probably another one of those "safe" senders. I think it's all the luck of the draw and who you are writing to.

I send a lot out and i normally make sure they're good signers.

I would say around 75-80%. I'm a very safe sender, I check for authentic feedback on the person, and wait if no feedback is recorded for them.

i am the same exact way. i research if the celebrity sends something back, or sends preprints. but i'm having a dry spell lately! it's awful
