This may be a long shot but I have a signed letter which I brought off a friend recently. On the letter it says "Dear Rob" With Rob not being my name I would like to remove it if possible? Is there a trick to doing this? It is in black ink on A4/Letter paper if that is any help {thumb2}

Personally - I wouldn't remove it at all. I know it's not your name, but if you do anything to the picture/letter it can damage the value later on.
