Keeping records?
Occasionally I run across posts of people who have unidentified autographs that they recieved TTM. I log all of my requests in a book with the date and what I sent and give each one a number. That way I always know who sent the autograph to me. Since 1986 I've sent out over 8,100 requests.
Does anyone else do it this way?

Over 9,000 requests sent since 1986.

Re: Keeping records?
Yeah I have a book which I use for everything autograph related.
I've split it into 3 sections.
In the first section I have a 'Who I've written to' list. I've made a tabel and split it into 5 columns:
1- Name of celeb
2- Address used
3- Date sent
4- Date received
5- Other info (eg. if I included a picture etc.)
I always make sure I've filled this table in after sending a request.
In the next section I have a 'To write to' list which is just basically a list of people I want to write to soon, and I cross their name out when their request has been sent out. I like having this list as it gives me some aims.
In the final section I have made myself a template letter, and also some notes about what I want to say in certain celebrities letters. I start and end all my letters in the same way, but in the middle when I am talking about the celebs work I obviously make that personal for each one.
When I used to collect back in 2006 I had a book which I split into different sections for each letter of the alphabet and I wrote in the celebs who's names began with each letter and the address I wrote to them at or the address I intend to write to them at. But that just got a bit confusing as all the info was together rather than in seperate sections, I think my method at the moment with the 3 different sections is a really good idea and is very helpful

Re: Keeping records?
I used to have loose leaf notebook paper to put all my requests on, but that filled up pretty quick and I'm tired of keeping track. So now I just use a Microsoft word document to keep track of them.

Re: Keeping records?
I have used Microsoft Excel for my collection. I believe it is the most organized, functional, cleanest way of keeping a record. It gives me the choice of organizing my collection by name, date sent, or date recieved. I also have a column dedicated to addresses used and what i sent. It works for me!

Re: Keeping records?
I keep 2 text files on my computer. One with celebrities that I intend to write to, and the other for celebrities that I already wrote. I don't keep the send dates logged but I do keep a note of what address I used. I really don't send out that many requests ttm, most of my collecting is done ip.
Side note: People that get unidentified autographs, are usually (with a few exceptions) the kind of people that will request an autograph from just about anyone, usually per email just because its free. Then when they receive it in the mail they have no idea from who it is.

Re: Keeping records?
I mainly use a spreadsheet that I created. I don't have word, but I used Open Office.
I have forgotten to write down one or two of the people I've written to TTM but I was able to identify by the postmark and looking at the addresses I wrote down that I would like to send to. Blame that on pregnancy brain, and now lack of sleep with a newborn.
