i was wondering how you can find out what stars will be on which show? like for example this friday dakota fanning is supposed to be on david letterman does that mean friday she will actually be there or was this tape pre recorded? and if so how can you find out the days when stars will actually be at shows for signings?

A lot of shows are pre-taped, however there are some that aren't but are taped on the same day/earlier in the day. If you are trying to send fanmail to Dakota Fanning (for example the Letterman show) - you are very unlikely to get any celebrities autograph by sending it to a talk show.

I meant cuz one of my friends lives in New York and he said he'd try to go get me an in person autograph so I was wondering if she was actually going to be going to Letterman on Friday.

Sometimes the guests are posted on the show's website.
