With emails, I think its especially good when you get something authentic.
After all, that means that the celebrity or their agent has paid for the photo, the envelope and the postage. It is asking for quite a lot from someone.
I always feel a bit awkward when requesting them though. If you're writing an email to someone, its odd to think that someone else might be reading it and not necessarily passing it on.
