hey just recently signed up after deciding to take my curiosity of collecting autographs into overdrive and decided that i should get pro-active and actually start collecting them,
after browsing through your wonderful site i have noticed that many of you prefer to send your own pics to be signed (which makes a lot of sense because then you can choose what film you want a pic of them from or find a cool onstage pose for musicians etc .. ) but i have a question .. and this may be a really stupid question but where do you get all these pics you are sending away to celebrities?
do you find them via Google Images and just print them off the internet or what?? any help would be much appreciated
Im looking foward to starting my Collection with the help of all of you and this website
Thanks again

Re: Question about Pictures
I've moved this to Collecting Help
This is a perfectly normal question Mister Mosh
Welcome to fanmail.biz by the way, I'm sure you're going to love autograph collecting ;)
It doesn't really matter how to print them, I think most people just print them off with higher quality paper or go to the local print shop for the best quality. You can also buy good quality photos online. I have a photo printer so I find a good quality picture online and print it out
If you're going to print it yourself, when you're searching for your image e.g. on Google, on the size options you should select "Extra Large Images" or "Large Images". This will narrow down your search but give you the best quality of pictures. Small pictures may come out a bit grainy.
I hope this answered your question
Good Luck
Happy Collecting

Re: Question about Pictures
hi i usualy send my own images , i get them off of google images and sometimes i get pictures off fan sites. i always use regular paper but the photos look fine and theirs no problem getting a signature on the photo( its similar to getting a note pad signed ). also index cards are awsome items to send its like a dollar for a pack of 50, their sturdy extremly cheap, and signatures look great on them.
the reason i like to send my own photos is because its a postage issue. i feel if im asking a celebrity for their photo then i dont know what size sase im going to have to send and how many stamps im going to have to put(so im going to have send a 8x10 envelope put two 96 cent stamps on them then send the almost 3 dollars for one letter, but if i send my own photo i can send a standard envelope and put one stamp on it and its less then 2 dollars im saving a dollar per letter),now if i send my own photo then i know exactly how big the photo is and how big the envelope should be and how much postage will be.
also even asking the celebrity to sign your letter can be nice, the way i see it is, you and the celebrity both have your signatures on that item.
ps a sase if you dont know what it is, its a return envelope you send to the celebrity you put your adress and name on it and a stamp and you include it with your letter, so the celebrity doesent have to pay for any postage.
and btw saving a extra 96 cents per letter adds up(like i mentioned its almost a dollar per letter which makes a big difference in the long run). but yes their are times thou ive had to send big envelopes which ive gladly done it and ive gotten some real nice photos back from celebs.
and also if you print out your own photos you can make collages and get a collage signed(you can make them the normal way by cutting and pasting photos or make them on the computer) collages look amazing signed, ive gotten a few back. also a lyric sheet to a song would be nice also(if your writing a singer, but if you do send obviously your going to send one of their songs) so ya.
happy collecting and good luck
