Exactly,

In this autograph collecting hobby you have to be ready for the odd pre-prints that will come your way. But Pre-prints are better than nothing at all. At least they have taken the time to supply a picture with for you and they are usually very beautiful pictures. So if you like the person enough a picture is worth it, signed or not.

oh come on...I hate PP's too but they just up the challenge...There's nothing more rewarding than after five or so PP's to finally find that adress that works. You have to realise that most of these celebs don't even get to see your letter. Their secretary or something handles them...so look for adresses that go around the secretary. just try again,...eventually you'll get lucky

I see it is a great challenge to try to get an original after a preprint!

Like everyone else, I always prefer to get authentics rather than preprints, but the reality is that sometimes you will get them.

Incidentally, mattyb123 just a comment which might help you in the future:

Looking at the way you worded your postings above (and others I have seen on the forum) you seem a little bit angry!! If this in any way comes over in your request letters than you cannot be surprised of you don't succeed!!!!

You need to be polite and composed when you write, and don't write with the EXPECTATION of getting an autograph. Believe me there is nothing which gives you less of a chance of ANY kind of success than that!!!!

By the way, just because you have got a preprint this time (by the way, was it the Del Boy - Luvverly Jubbly one?) doesn't mean you will get the same in say a month's time.

I wish you good luck in the hobby, but just relax a bit

Chill out man. So you got a pe-print, it's not the end of the world. I get them all of the time. It's like everyone else says. When you send off a letter, you need to be pre-pared to get a pre-print. If you paid money for a signed photo, then they sent you a pre-print, then you would have a good reason to be mad. just relax and sooner or later you will get a real autograph and then you will forget all about how mad you are now.

You can hardly call it a "rip-off" when all you did is write asking for a signed pic!

In regards to Sir David Jason, he does send pre-prints, but I also received a responce to my questions (albeit brief and written next to my questions), but the reality is that you CANNOT expect to receive authenticly signed items EVERY TIME. Be prepared for disappointment, because even the most avid and knowledgable of collectors gets rejections or PP's.
I must admit, I dont like Pre Prints, but that makes me even more determined to get an authentically signed item, don't give up hope 'Matty', although having said that, dont have 'great or unrealistic expectations' every time you send off your letters.

Be polite, understanding and learn from your mistakes.

Best of luck in your collecting.... Chin up

preprints aren't that great, but atleast you got something. many celebs do not have time to write to everyone due to the fact that they receive a whole load of mail a day.

I feel that mattyb123 is well aware of his misjudgement now and that we have all made our views clear therefore I have closed this topic!

We don't want to 'scare' mattyb off now do we?

We all make mistakes! Mattyb123... you are forgiven! :D
