How many of you would fake your name for Two Autographs??

Unread post by RYAN J. »

While sitting at my desk tonight I had this thought pop into my always wondering mind:

If you wrote to a celeb that strictly signed only one autograph per fan and kept track of all incoming addresses so he/she knows who they already signed for and reject multiple requests, but personalized them, Would you as a fan fake your first name and make it the same as the celeb so that you'd get two Autographs instead of one?? :shock:

I've never thought of this until tonight & I'd personally never do it myself as I think it would be very dishonest and an unrewarding feeling if I did. {down}

But I want to know your opinion is. I figure if most 'fans' did this the celeb would catch on sooner or later especially if the celebs name is an uncommon one like Scout, Demi, Miley, Orlando ect. ect. :lol:

Hopefully the mods won't delete this topic, but if they feel that it should be deleted, then why all means please do! I don't want to cause an uproar by influencing fans to abuse the celebrities generousity. :cry:

Hi RYAN J.! ;-)

No, I would never do that because I normally wouldn't want a second success. :) I don't get why people write 3+ times to the same person, just to get another signed photo, same as the one they got the first time. :neutral: To me, I only got second successes accidently (I wrote twice because I thought I wouldn't get a success the first time around) or I send questionnaires sometimes (rarely, though!). {thumb2}

But unfortunately, I know of member(s) here who do this... {down}

Thanks,
zanne

I don't see the need to do that.

Once I've got their autograph I don't ask for another one.

No I would never do that. If I had one autograph I would be happy with that, I wouldn't need another one :)

One would be enough, seeing that it's a big celebrity.
I've never sent twice to anyone, and if I did it'd be because;
a. I thought it got lost in the mail or so
b. I really liked the celebrity and regret sending the picture I did (or didn't like their picture)

But, unfortunately some members do that on here. :?
And it's not very good. {down}

Never. This is unfair to celebs who take the time to at least reply to you.

Nah, I spend enough money on stamps to send to different celebs already. Why would I need another?
I also find it pretty disrespectful to the celebrity if I send to them more than once, they have enough on their hands already :).
Also, if I fake a name that means one of them isn't personalized to me, so why would I want that ?

I would NEVER do that. It's an abuse of the celeb's generosity, as well as a lie. I wouldn't want anyone to think me a liar!

If you're talking about someone like George Foreman, he's been tracking requests for so long, he could probably spot a fake letter/name/address easily.

I'd imagine that most celebs who keep track, keep the letters they've been sent. If handwriting/typing style is the same or similar, I'd think those celebs would just reject the 2nd request anyway.

I have written to the same celeb a few times - Placido Domingo. I started trying to get his autograph in the 80's, and wrote about 8 times up until 2004 because I never received an autograph. I figured I'd never get his autograph, or that he doesn't sign TTM. Then, in 2008, I got 2 of his autographs - and I don't know which requests they were from anymore. But he's the only time I wrote more than once to a celeb.

Thanks to all who left comments! I'm glad to see that you would never do this either. {thumb2} I did see that some of you may have misread my original post though, the idea behind getting two autographs would mean that the 2nd Signature would be on the same photo. Example:

To Miley,

Best Wishes!

Miley Cyrus

I didn't mean writing to the same celeb again, but actually writing your first name so it's the same as the celebs and they personalize it. Hopefully that made sense. :lol:
