Celebrities who don't sign TTM...

Hi everyone!
As I browsed through the "Feedback" forum today, I saw all these successes, from Robert Pattinson to Peter Facinelli and Mark Wahlberg, all arguably the most popular celebrities today.

I admire people like them so much, not only are they great actors, but they still make time in their busy schedules to reply to their fan mail.

They're real role models. {thumb2}
But, what about those who don't reply TTM? For example, there's many celebrities who aren't half as popular as Robert Pattinson at the moment, but some don't even reply at all TTM.

I'm not going to be specific here, but I like a lot of "lesser-known" actors but most of them don't write back at all TTM, not even a preprint or an unsigned photo.

I know, it's
their choice whether they want to reply or not, but how come Pattinson (who's probably the busiest actor at the moment) manage to make time for his fans then?

Also, I think if you wanted to become an actor in the 21st century, you
knew about all the things that came along with being a famous actor - you knew that you would have adoring fans and the paparazzi would take your picture! So there's no excuse for not liking the attention.

It is the
fans who pay to see their films, without us, their films would never have been successful and they would never have been as famous as they are now.
What are your opinions on this? Do you think everyone should at least try to send
something back to their fans TTM?
Thanks!
zanne

Of course they should send something. If you send someone a request and receive nothing you're bitterly disappointed but if you were to receive a PP or Auto Pen then it would soften the blow a bit. Afterall, it's us fans that got them to where they are today - without us where would they be?

Exactly, at least a preprint means that your request reached the agency, and they sent you a photo with a copy of an autograph.

But I've sent one too many letters TTM which have never been answered, some even 2 years ago.

That really dissapoints me, and postage aren't exactly cheap money which you can afford to waste!

I think some should try to sign TTM. Id love Samantha Janus' autograph (who is in my siggy). Shes only a soap actress and is one of the rarest EE signers you can get. Its not like shes in Hollywood, she only acts in EE. Its a shame really but you cant do anything about it
I dont believe in preprints/autopens. Id rather recieve nothing back because your not getting what you asked for - a genuine signed autograph.

Good point there Liz.
But i think that many Celebrities dont actually get the chance to "get close" with the fanmail..most of the addresses on here is for manager/angencys and so..They are probably the people who first get the letters, some put them aside for the celeb to come and answer but many do just toss them...For example,Will Smith is one of the nicest signers out there,i am sure he would answer TTM if he could but the agency are smart..they knew that if he started to respond to fanmail he would be spammed. So i dont think it the Celebs problem that much, they are not the first people who get the letter!

I agree with most of the stuff said above, but I have one issue.
We can't blame any celebrities for not signing, because we don't know what's really going on. We don't know if the place we are writing to will give the letter to the celeb or not, we don't really know who's signing, we don't know anything. We are living for a hunch. But that's the thrill of the biz, as they say.

I'm aware of what you and karra28 say, but I'm referring to agencies that
do pass on fan mail to their clients.

Of course, there's no point in writing to Creative Artists Agency or Endeavor Agency, for example, as they
rarely (if ever) pass on fan mail.

But most actors' agencies actually give them a choice whether they'd like to reply or not, and they inform them of mail. So the celebrities are well aware that they receive mail, that's for sure...

Ive been thinking about this and I think Samantha Janus is a good example. She was popular in the 90's but hadn't really done much after 1998 before EastEnders. She must have had times of wondering where the next pay cheque was coming from, and fell on her feet when she got the part in EastEnders. So...you'd think she would be very appreciative of her fans and more than happy to sign cast cards for them - after all, pretty much everybody else does. Like Eastendersfan says shes not exactly in Hollywood; and we've all heard how much time is spent hanging around on set.
I'm not talking about the really big stars here - in a way you can see why they join SFM because from their point of view the fans are getting an autograph, although from our point of view they're worthless; but your everyday people who don't sign I reckon is often down to one or all of these three things
Ignorance
Arrogance
Laziness
I know people have busy lives away from their celebrity ones, and there are people like Alan Rickman for example who hardly ever sign but SOMETIMES do - Thats understandable - but I do think a little less of celebs who just ignore their fans completely.

I know Emily Osment does not reply TTM. And, yes have heard about Sam Janus taking quite a while to reply.
Well, I think celebs should yes, even if it is only a PP. It depends if it actually gets passed on or not, or goes adrift in the mail, etc...

Yes I think celebrities owe it to their fans, because like already said, they wouldn't be where they are now without us. They signed up for this job, and signing autographs is part of the package. I think they should try their best to respond to the fans, even just an hour or two a week would be enough, they could sign so many pictures in that time! And with people sending SASE's it's not even costing the celebrity anything! So yes I really think some celebrities should make more of an effort, but I know there are some really lovely celebrities, such as Robert Pattinson and Savannah Outen who take the time to reply to everyone
