What's the deal with Alan Rickman??

Unread post by zipbags »

The forum mymymy was nice enough to email me about Alan Rickman and his lack of signing anything Harry Potter and supposedly bad attitude when signing. Why is this?

Well, most people who get autographs sell them for profit. Unlike many of us, they don't enjoy looking at them and keeping them. Alan Rickman has been in countless classic movies such as Harry Potter and Die Hard to name but a few....many dealers would love to get his signature to sell it. :neutral:

I guess that is just 1 reason as to his lack of enjoyment when signing... {down}

Hollywood.tv made a video of Alan signing. And about 25 seconds in. You can hear him say he won't sign Harry Potter...And it sounds like even if you want it personalized. Still seems bizarre.

Well, it's his right to refuse to sign something he doesnt want to sign, and at any times he likes. He's aware of the popularity of the character and how much money his autograph could make. He's under no obligation to sign at all :)

I can understand him doing that because of fetching money for it. But I want his autograph for me!! Is there at least a chance he'd sign a standard picture of himself, or am I better sending a literal scrap of paper haha? :lol:

For the most part he will sign anything that's not Harry Potter related. I had a success from him last summer, he had a standard signed picture sent to me. :)

The more you sign...The less valueable the signature becomes.

Well I got lucky about two weeks ago, I'm out down at the donmar and Rickman came out after seeing the play. I went up to him said politly "Excuse me Mr Rickman Would you mind?" Then explain I was a big fan of his work in Dogma. He signed a card for me no trouble at all, even did a second signed to my friend Tash.
I think the trick is if you get the chance with him, dont mention Harry Potter at all and talk about another film you really enjoyed him in. That way he can see your a fan and not a dealer.
