Hey Everyone!

So I received a Success From Jackson Rathbone 2 days ago, He signed the photo I sent to him as Jasper in Twilight and i'm so excited except that the signature is smearing off of the photo!! I dont know what to do! It is printed on glossy hp plus photo paper and he signed in silver pen I have never had any problems like this before and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion about what i should do to preserve it from getting any worse, i am afraid if i put it in an archive safe sleeve or anything like that then the entire auto will smear off... any help is greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like the dreaded paint pen. Usually what I do when I get an autograph that is smearing off is I get the autograph framed. If you decide to try that, get it so the glass does not touch the picture. Most places that frame photos have frames for this.

I think there are spray-on laquers that company's make the protect photo's. I might be wrong, but this might be a viable option. At the very least it's something worth looking into.

Yeah nothing you can really do silver sharpie and glossy photos dont mix well,i usually try to only send pictures with very light backgrounds in hopes they will not use silver...but if they do nothing you can really do about it.

...or you can buy adhesive transparent foil/ wallpaper and stick it on the picture...

If you want it to retain any kind of value, don't do any of the "spray/adhesive" ideas. That will just make the autograph worthless. The best answer so far is to frame it in such a fashion where the signature doesn't touch the glass. Make sure the glass is UV protected, too. That's a MUST when framing is necessary.

Framing is really the only option here. The other 2 suggestions are risky at best, and will ruin the 'value' like Will said.

This happened to me in May and my Mum bought me a new photo frame

Its a sunken frame with UV glass I think she got it from Accessorize or Ikea
