Well, it was quite funnygoswannies wrote: The above was a very good & moral post. That is why I said "I'm not saying you should do it". I used to collect stamps, which is how I developed the stamp removal technique. My post was more for humor value (thank you jessemcluv for acknowledging this ... especially since it was at your expense).
But to play devil's advocate, postal services often lose mail or bend/rip mail - destroying our valuable autographs or losing bills making us incur late fees - (and very infrequently steal mail themselves ... rogue postal workers - I'm not suggesting that the postal service itself deliberately endorses this practice). How often is the paying customer compensated for losing or wrecking our mail? This counter-argument does not justify the re-use of unmarked stamps. It it simply a point of discussion.

Re: uncancelled stamps
Goswannies,
I hope that I didn't come off wrong in my previous post. Things seemed a little black and white last night when I went on that mini-rant about morality, legality, and the US Postal Service. Truth is that I'm trying to relearn how to live as a responsible adult citizen even though I lost my right to vote. I apologize for being so over-the-top.
I feel you on the damaged mail thing. I've either got a different mail carrier or the old one is getting really careless. I've started ordering a lot from Amazon.com, and the mail carrier is really cramming it in the mailbox. One day I got two small packages shoved in there with my mail from Diane Sawyer wrapped around it. The envelope was marked "Photo: Please do not bend." The autographed picture was really wrinkled badly.

Now the Post Man behind the counter here is very efficient. I think of him as "Postman Cutie." He's not good looking but he's efficient and friendly. He knows his job and cares about customer service.
If my mail lady keeps it up I might have to put a note for her or the mail box or wait until she drives up and have a polite talk with her. I don't want to get her in trouble, I just want my autographs not bent.
