How often are you successful?

Unread post by Entertext »

This is my first post so please bear with me. I'm sorry if it's in the wrong place.
Last week I wrote to Suzi Quatro to ask for an autograph for my friend. Today I received a photo but not signed. I have to admit I am a little disappointed and presume that it isn't classed as a success! I'm wondering if I should try again or a different address or something or just give up.
Anyways, how often are you successful getting an autograph?

Welcome to fanmail Entertext :D
I have about 60+ autographs and I have only recieved 1 RTS so thats good {??}
I havent recieved an autograph in about 2 months now though {down}
I am going to write some requests tonight so hopefully I will get some replies!
Obviously, there are some celebs that I havent had replies from yet but I have to be patient but whenever I get a success I usually recieve a signed photo which is great ;-) The longest I have waited for a success is about 9 months.
Good luck with your collecting!!

Hello! Welcome to the site :) Well you can interpret your question in many different ways. Do you mean how many of our successes are signed pictures? How many requests we send out do we get back? Or how frequently (eg. how many per week) are we successful?

Well everytime I get a success it is always a signed picture, I only have about 3 PP's (pre prints), I have never received a blank picture, sounds a bit odd that anyone would send out blank pictures! But I always say it is better to get something back than nothing, even if it wasn't what you were hoping for. It is better than waiting for something that may never arrive.

When it comes to how many requests do I hear back from, at the moment it has been about half (since November 2008). Although there is still plenty of time to hear back from those as some requests can take over a year to come back. Also, I have wrote to many bands, singers and actors who have no previously recorded feedback for so for all I know they may not sign at all.

I don't think there is a certain amount I get each week or month. Sometimes I can go for about 2 months without receiving anything, but then there are weeks like last week where I got 4 successes. It doesn't follow any particular pattern :)

I receive around 5-30 replies a week, and currently have around a 50% success rate, but I collect all sorts and send to unconfirmed addresses. So far my longest wait is 54 days.

It used to be 1 or 2 autographs a month..but that seems to have stopped..My quickest wait was 4 days for Jodie Prenger and my longest was 8 months for Emma Watson(back in 2006). Have not gotten a single RTS(Perhaps because half my requests were to London Theatres....) {up}

I haven't received much of anything lately, but that's because I haven't sent out requests. I have been collecting over a year now and not once have I received a RTS. That in itself is pretty amazing. {up}

I haven'r received much lately but I think I just need to wait a little longer as I sent many successes out in August and September. I have 2 PP's, one or 2 (for the 2nd one I believe it's authentic but I can't say that's definitely true) sec and 2 RTS's. Also, I have 50+ autographs so it's not that bad ;)
My longest wait is 2 years but it was worth it.

Thank you for the welcome :) I'm impressed with how many autographs you have all collected! I'd be thrilled with just one! Do you think it'd be worth trying again to get the autograph I wanted?

It is always worth to give it a try :) You might not get it but you tried to so you don't have anything to regret.
I've been collecting for 5 years so around 50 autographs is not much but I'm a huge fan of those people and this is what really counts ;)
