Why would an actor keep your photo?

I received a reply today in which the actor just sent back a pre signed photo and there was no sign of the photo that I sent. It wasn't a particular well printed photo so I doubt it is something they wanted to keep. My first reaction is that the agent secretary sent it but this wasn't the case as I see from the post mark that it was sent from the actors home town.
Another reason that is possible is that the marker pen smudged on the glossy photo but this wasn't a problem with several other actors who I sent these glossy photos to.
