How to convert .tif files to .jpeg

During my autograph collecting, surfing Google for the right picture to print and send. I remembered that I have a crate full of press kits with perfect photos already paid for.

The problem I am having is that the modern era press kits are on CDs and have these dense ass 12-25 MB .tif files for pictures. These pictures do not upload at all to Walgreens.com, Facebook.com or any other site because of their size.

I tried to change the extension from -tif to -jpg but it didn't change the bit size. What am I doing wrong? Is there any way I can reduce the size of these to make them more manageable for uploading and printing?

I am willing to share these pictures upon request.

Thanks

I'm not an expert in this category, but I also ran into a problem once where a file failed to show up when using one of the photo kiosks recently. I went home and called up the file using Microsoft Paint and then saved it as a jpeg file, then I went back and was able to print it out. You could give that a try.

As packrat already stated, you can open the .tif file in Paint then follow these steps:
File > Save as > click on Save as type dropdown menu > choose .jpeg > click save. Done!

Yeah, what they said. A jpg is basically just a compressed tif, so you shouldn't lose too much integrity in the change.

Thanks to all who responded. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! I knocke dout 2 pics from the Daredevil presskit. I can't wait to get started on my press kit collection flipping selected shots from TIF files to JPEG for reprinting.
I love this site!
