No its not true. However if you can find out the hotel he's staying at you might be able to get him there. Depends on if the hotel lets you wait on their property and how many other collectors are waiting. Good luck.

I got him at the hotel he was staying at when he was last here in town. He was pleasant but not overly friendly.

No. There were maybe 5 or 6 other collectors. I actually had to bribe the valet to let us know that Springsteen was staying there. Sometimes you need to do that to get the hotel and airport information on a certain celebrity.

There is nothing like a dead president that can facilitate open communication.
jjj -- I've done a lot of in person autographing, but never had the chance to try for The Boss. Doesn't matter though, because I would try anyway, whether I am alone or there are 100 other people there. And it doesn't matter to me how his demeanor is. I've been turned down before (and yes, it stings) but if you don't try you won't have a chance. It's my motto that even if someone is known to not sign for fans that I gotta try anyway. Pleasantly, of course.

He lives near me. People are always spotting him at stores. A couple of years ago my mom was at a store getting a donation for a fundraiser. In walks Bruce. She and him were the only ones there. My mom is not shy and told him about the fundraiser. He grabbed a couple of items and signed them for the fundraiser. And then she asked for an auto for me. He signed a blank piece of paper and personalized it to me.
I have heard other stories from friends who have met him at restaurants, stores and the gym.

I tried for him twice, but both times he just drove by and waved. Sometimes he will stop to sign, but most times he won't. If he does stop to sign, it's usually on his way out rather than on the way into the venue.
