Sick of your Mailman & the fact he can't read DO NOT BEND!?!

Unread post by ozzymadman »

I Had quite a few of my autographs damaged in the past few months
and i am about ready to knock my mailman's block off because he is ignorant to clearly marked "DO NOT BEND PHOTOS"
Stickers or Boldly marked Instructions Written In Permanent marker !!!!

anyone else having this problem ????

I am curious to know about some of your autographs that have been damaged
and has anybody actually butted heads or exchanged words with their stupid mailman????

let me know !

A good half of my replies come back bent, which is why I've invested in photo mailers for my 8x10s these days.

But here's the thing - AFAIK, there isn't a "Do Not Bend" rule when it comes to the USPS. It's simply a suggestion to the mailman, and not a rule he has to oblige by.

I always send rigid photo mailers to be safe, but the autographs i have received from emails and stuff where the celebrity mails it to me if it says do not bend my mailman is pretty good he wont bend them but if they dont write do not bend on the envelope i get them bent completely in half,it happened to me twice and i was really annoyed but what can you do.But if my mailman bent stuff that says do not bend i would be mad but i would be afraid to say anything to him because then he might hold a grudge ,lol And he has the power to make my mail go missing haha

you may want to do what I did, get an extra large mailbox, their around 12 inchs wide, so your mail doesnt have to be bent to fit. I think I got it for less then $20

I live in an apartment where our mailboxes are the P.O box type. I've had photos come back marked clear as day DO NOT BEND PHOTO, etc. And yet, he folds them up and places them in the mailbox. I usually try and watch for him to come so that they don't sit like that for too long. So far I haven't had any damaged ones because of it, but it's a huge annoyance

sometimes they just bend them so they fit in their mailbags easier, its not always just to fit it into the mailbox.

I think your right johnny that seems to be my problem.
My mail usually comes altogether bundled up with an elastic band

My mailbox is definitely not the problem cause it is pretty big
It fits a 10x13 Envelope no problem which is usually what's used to send
8x10 photos and that's what I mostly collect

I think part of the problem is when they are sorting at the post office
They sort the mail for the delivery guys and bundle everything together to make it easier for them. But when your mail arrives in a photo mailer
Or in an envelope with a piece of cardboard inside of it they have no choice but to keep it separate from the bundle cause they simply can't bend it Whether
They can READ OR NOT! :)

I guess all we can do is use photo mailers or send envelopes with a cardboard inside. That's what I do and I simply ask that whoever I send too, to kindly send the cardboard back to me inside the SASE

Which is what they usually do I guess that's why most of my bent autographs I get
Are email requests just like you mentioned in your earlier post johnny.

Hey Dubbs

I used to live in a apartment and my mail then was pretty cool its the
One I have now that's dense ! LOL :)

Anyways I made an arrangement with my superintendent and the mailman
That whenever I had something to large to fit in the box he would leave it with the
Super in her office and I would just pick it up from the super.
You might want to try that .... Hope this helps you out.

we have wide mailboxes so there is no reason to bend letters, but it does happens sometimes, last time the envelope came not bend but all greasy as hell, like from doughnuts shop :) another time i have ordered a book on ebay, and instead of leaving it in post my mailman broke my mailbox to put the damn book in it, i was so mad
