Ahh, I guess that's why they don't give away the Airmail stickers anymore.

SilentEcho219 wrote:I got a little over 3 ounces, so I typed 3.1 in the calculator and it said it would cost $3.76 to send that to Australia... you'd need 9 stamps to cover that! A lot more than I expected. :?
Would you mind calculating the same thing as the other poster, but without the cardboard? I'm sending a 10x13, a 9x12 SAE, a letter, a picture and IRC to Australia. If that's too much trouble, no worries. ;) Thanks!

Also.....does anyone know if it's okay to make two rows of stamps on an envelope instead of one long row? If you're using 9 stamps, putting them on there in one long row would take up LOTS of space.

No, you can't cover the stamps with anything, not even other stamps, not even partially. You also can't put tape over the stamps (for future reference if you ever feel you have a reason to do that.)

I just edited my first post....sorry! About the stamps.....I meant making 2 rows of stamps, rather than placing them all in one long row on the envelope. Sorry for the confusion! :)

Yeah, you can do that, might be preferred actually. As long as they can mark the stamps with a postmark to cancel them (so they can't be used again) then that is fine.

dfreely wrote:I use IRCs with my Australian requests since a single one covers quite a lot ($2.10, or 50 grams). I've never been a "send cash" type of guy though, even if it has worked fine for some people.
SilentEcho219 wrote:Also, make sure you write "BY AIRMAL - PAR AVION" on on the envelope somewhere on the top. Since it's going to Australia, it will probably go via Airmail anyway, but write it just to be safe. It would suck for it to be put on a boat instead. It would take forever to get there!

Oh god, I have just mailed out some international vv requests recently without writing "airmail" I hope they don't put them on a ship, otherwise it will not get there on time   Hopefully the posite uses common sense....

I would think most countries default to airmail, as long as there's enough postage.
