I'm new- have some questions?

Hi! I'm Liz and I'm new here. I'm really interested in autograph collecting and I haven't started yet but am hoping to within the next week. I have some questions before I start though and I was wondering if anyone could help me?

1) There are apparently many celebs who send out preprints, secs, or autopens- are these something to be thankful for and to cherish also, or are they basically just a huge dissapointment? Are they considered autographs??

2) If I ever got an autograph, how do I post pictures?

3) I am interested in sending requests to the following people- has anyone recently gotten authentic successes with them TTM, what are your experiences with them??
Cher (I've heard she's difficult and most of the autographs that are sent through the fan club look nothing like her sig. Opinions? I really love her!)
Betty White, Fran Drescher, Meryl Streep, Robin Williams, Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, Roger Federer, Taylor Lautner, Shania Twain, Emily Osment, Jack Nicholson, Bridgit Mendler, Shirley Temple Black, Sophia Loren, and Marina Sirtis.
If anyone has info on these celebs I will worship you forever! lol

4) Do you have to send a picture or will they provide one? Where do you get the pictures from?

BTW- I will be doing most, if not all, autograph collecting through the mail. I don't have many IP opportunities.

1) preprints/secs: I consider them a failure. Receiving these is no more than printing off a photo from google or signing it myself. (Thats my opinion, but others consider them successes). I'd still post what you get so others can see.

2) If you get an autograph, scan it. Go to http://www.imageshack.com and upload it. This will generate an URL that you can put in your success post.

3) Out of the people you listed, I know Bette White signs, and I've seen several successes from Roger Federer and Sophia Loren. Not sure about the others. Keep in mind, the bigger or more popular the celebrity the higher the chances of getting back a preprint, autopring, secretarial, etc. Just post their names in this website and you can see who's gotten successes

4) There are several websites that you can go to to order pictures. I use the google image search and find photos that way. When searching, go to "Advance search" and change your settings to find larger pictures. These will be clearer and less pixilated when printed. I find pictures up there and print them myself on a thick card-stock paper. Other people will print them off via Walgreens, Walmart, any photo place. Some places will not print copyrighted images.

vjw0307 answered all of your questions perfectly, so I don't think I need to say much more, haha. However, I just thought I'd say that it's up to you entirely if you think that PPs/APs/Secs are failures or not. You can either think 'This isn't authentic, therefore I hate it', and throw it away, or you can think 'Well, at least I got something!' It's totally up to you.

Cher - really difficult to obtain!
Betty White - Brilliant signer! Excellent to her fans!! I LOVE that lady!!!
Meryl Streep - Signs VV as far as I know.
Robin Williams - His ttm's are commonly regarded as secs!
Michael Caine - again some think his ttm's are authentic and others think they're secs.
Shirley Temple Black - Hit or miss! Sometimes she refuses mail and sometimes she'll sign!
Sophia Loren - authentics ttm!! I got her a couple of years ago. You're best to send your own photo!

Hard to say! Sometimes she refuses mail and you get an rts, sometimes she signs and sometimes you just don't get a response at all! I wouldn't send anything valuable but she's worth a shot!

I tried her everytime somone would get a success from her. i have not heard from her!
