I'm just wondering how everyone reacts/what you do when you open your mailbox and behold! a celebrity has responded to your autograph request.

Back when I was a kid and could count my autographs on one hand, it was a simple matter of popping it into a sheet protector and showing the family, maybe jumping up and down a bit. Nowadays, it's so much more involved!

Generally, once I've basked in the euphoria of the signed item for a bit, I will:

a. open spreadsheet 1 (which lists who I sent to and when) and record the date the item was received, highlight it in red, and move it to the top of the list.

b. open spreadsheet 2 (my main autograph list) and type the name, type of item (8x10, postcard, etc.), how I received it (bought, through-the-mail, etc.), and a short description (for example, two signed/inscribed Catwoman photos)

c. photograph the item

d. upload the item to my computer, then to imageshack

e. sign-in here

f. edit my profile to reflect item received, and move the name of the celeb from "waiting" to "successes"

g. add feedback, along with photos

h. add an entry in the diary thread

i. then, finally, add the photo to one of my four 3-ring binders (Dr. Who autographs, horror/sci, comic/cartoon/superheroes, general celebrities) and call or text some folks about what I got.

Sheesh! Typing all that out makes me think I'm nuts! Anyone else go through a similar, or completely different, process?

a. get excited for the envelope
b. open it up and see the result
c. take a photo of the autographed item
d. upload it to my laptop & post my success on this forum and another
e. insert the item into an album and pretty much forget about it until I happen to look through the album again!

1. Receive.
2. Be all giddy/disappointed (RTS, PP, AP)
3. Take pictures.
4. Edit my address out of pictures with photoshop.
5. Upload regular size and smaller size to imageshack.
6. Type up new post about person, etc.
7. Finish.

Wow, you guys are so organized. I have a ton of autographs I need to organize and I told myself I would get to it one day. That was two years ago and everything is still all over the place. Sometimes I'd see a pic and I'm thinking "I didn't even know I had this....great!". I definitely need to get started this weekend.

My gf introduced me to GoogleDocs, and I'm addicted to using that program to keep track of tons of stuff.

1. Open envelope
2. Scan it
3. Put it away in my auto folder and never look at it again

Simple as that.

I go outside to fetch the mail in, run upstairs with it before the dog can catch me (She chews anything that smells of postman!) Get excited for a bit then pop the autograph in my binder! If I have time I photograph it and post in the feedback forum!

3. stare at the autograph
4. put it in a folder, and imagine how the celebrity signed my items!

3. i'm either happy or sad.(ifts a PP or authentic)
3. put the autograph(s) in my album
4. take a picture later and upload it on the weekend
