Sending Abroad- USA to France

Unread post by CWill97 »

Hey guys, how is everyone doing?

I have been collecting for around 4 years, but I have never sent anything to anyone outside the USA. I would like to attempt my first request abroad. My question is, how do I go about this? I want to send three photographs(to make my money actually worth the request). What I normally send out is an 8.5x11 photograph, a SASE which is 9x12 and I fold it in half, a LOR, all of that inside an 9x12 envelope. How much do you think this will roughly cost? I think I am going to put in US money for the return envelope because I am pretty sure my post office doesn't sell IRC's or whatever they are called. Usually it costs $1.22 or $1.39 both ways.

This is who I am sending to:

Marion Cotillard
Adéquat
80, rue d'Amsterdam
75009 Paris
France

If anyone knows if that address is wrong or if there is an updated one, please tell me! I am a HUGE fan of hers from Public Enemies and Inception. Great movies!

Can someone please help me? I would greatly appreciate the help!

EVERY REQUEST INCLUDES A SASE, INDEX CARD FOR "SLIGHT" PROTECTION AND LOR!!

NONE OF MY AUTOGRAPHS ARE FOR SALE!!! THEY ARE FOR MY PERSONAL COLLECTION ONLY!!!

Autograph collecting is a hobby of mine. It is not meant to be anything for profit nor beyond my enjoyment. I only send out to people I have deep respect for in their profession/field. I send out to the following but not limited to: professional/college athletes/coaches, actors/actresses from TV shows, artists/authors, voice actors/actresses, and any other random celebrity I love/respect. I try to respect everyone's privacy the best I can.

Feel free to private message me about anything. I'm always willing to help if I can. Just do not demand addresses/advice. Be chill about it and I'll definitely be of some help! Aggression and entitlement gets nothing.

Best advice I can give everyone about autograph collecting through the mail are the 3 P's:

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan. I don't send out of the country often (10-20 times a year) but generally if I am sending a couple photos (I usually send 8x10's) I put in $5.00 for return postage. I realize that I am probably overpaying, but I figure the celebrity's (or their assistant's) time to go to the post office is worth the extra money.
I have been asked many times about trading / selling some of my autographs. I am sorry but my collection is not and will not be for sale.

Thank you very much Dana! I was thinking about putting in $3-5 but I do not know how much it costs usually. If it usually is $1.22 to send out, how much would it be if I am sending to a different country? I know the prices increase when you send it abroad.

It's usually anywhere from 5-$10, so I include $5 cash usually. Never had any issues with items not returning.

I agree with Nick, I put in $5.00 as well and am fairly successful.

Thank you guys. Really appreciate the help! I think I am just going to put in like 5-7 US dollars. Hopefully that covers it.

Is there anything specific I need to write on the envelope to make sure it properly gets there? Like air travel or something.

I sent a large envelope to England from the US and it cost 2.08.

I think the idea of sending the $5 is a great idea.

I always write "International" on my envelopes. It used to be "Airmail" but then the PO changed things.

Good luck!

I do not write any thing like "international" on my envelope, but I think that might be a good idea. I do however take all of my foreign mail inside to the clerk at the post office to get exact cost & the clerk routes my request appropriately. I do write the country (Engalnd / France etc.) clearly as part of the address.
