Whats up with people being stingy.

Unread post by tommyrabins »

Today someone was showing their photos of Enrique Iglesias and bragging about their success. They wrote that they arent going to post the address and were not going to share it with anyone. HOW RUDE! they shouldnt even bother to brag if they arent willing to share like the rest of us. ok....got it off my chest!

A lot of the time people have private/home addresses for celebrities, that the celeb has specifically asked them not to share with other people. They wouldn't be a very good fan if they didn't respect that celebrity's wishes.

And anyways, most real fans wouldn't mind researching for the address.

I feel it depends on where the address was obtained from. If it was something where someone was doing you a favor and doesn't want to deal with being overwelmed then it shouldnt be shared. If someone is doing you a favor and you spread the word then you are kinda betraying them. If an address is given to you privately then it should stay private. Simple as that.

But if it is just a production company or agent or set location then I see no reason not to share.

If the reason for not sharing an address is because you want to be in an exclusive group that has obtained the autograph and try to deny anyone else from sharing a success then that person is being kinda a "D"

Get used to it. Before I started getting TTM graphs I got all my autographs IP. Some people were willing to help, some weren't. One guy wouldn't even tell me where to buy photo corners, for crying out loud. Same deal with TTM graphers. Some will share information, some won't. The more people who get into the hobby the harder it becomes to get autographs. That's why some folks don't want to share information -- they are hoping you will get discouraged and give up the hobby.

First of all they post their successes so people can see that it is possible for them to obtain an autograph from that celebrity. True fans will do as much research as they can to try to find an address. Sometimes it is hard and some need help but there are a lot of people that just spam addresses especially set addresses and that ruins the chance for the real collectors who have been fans for years not ones that just jump on the popularity train. What I think is annoying or rude is when people pm other members and are rude to them if they don't share the address with everyone. I think if you are demanding in a pm a member is less likely to help. I know sometimes people help me and I appreciate it and if someone can't that is ok too no one owes anyone anything on autograph forums and its up to the people who have the addresses to decide if someone is trust worthy enough to share the address with.

I agree that it's kind of pointless to share your success with others if you aren't going to post the address.... show some restraint, and just not post your success. I mean, you really aren't helping anyone obtain the same success you have, if you're posting the success but aren't sharing any info on how you obtained it. So what's the point?
This hobby is tough because you WANT to be friendly and share with others, but at the same time, you want addresses (ESPECIALLY via venue) protected and not spammed.. so there's a really fine line.
Bottom line though, if you aren't going to share, dont post the success, is my personal opinion. Because all it does is makes people jealous and frustrated if they can't get the address themselves and no one wants to help. If there's an address I can't share or don't want to share for whatever reason, I don't post.

I think people should post all their successes with pictures and if its a address from here say thats where you sent or if its a new address of a agency or manager post it so other fans can send. But sometimes its a private address or the person was given it in confidence and the celeb doesnt want to get flooded by requests so they can't post those addresses but they should still post the success. There will always be people who just want to brag and share nothing even after they received a success from that person already and the address was not given in confidence but thats just how it is. The only thing i don't share anymore is VV addresses but i will still give them to the odd person who sends me a PM and seems like a true fan. {up} [ca]

I agree with people on here that a private address should not be shared, as most people who are fans of the celeb go to great trouble and do lots of research for an address, some people even pay for them so why should one person's hard work or in some cases people's money be used for others who are too lazy to research or cant be bothered to look for a private address? I get sick of the people moaning and mithering me for private addresses when the fact is its private for a reason and should stay that way so that a celeb isnt spammed with lots of mail at their home :( this is what's killing the hobby and making celebs not want to sign because too many people send to the address then its ruining it for others who would also have liked an autograph who then may not get a chance to.
