A Florence Henderson Story

So here's my story involving Florence Henderson of Brady Bunch fame. The reason I'm posting this is because I've been reading of people's TTM success with her and reading a lot of comments about she's "always gracious to fans". Well, In the experience you're about to read, that wasn't the case.
I met Florence when I attended the HomeFest Home Show in Orlando, FL on September 19, 1998(I still have the newspaper article covering the event,..that's how I remember the exact date). She was there hocking Damprid products. When I approached her, I noticed she had stacks of photos on her table. "Cool", I thought..."She's prepared". See, I didn't have anything for her to sign, so i wasn't sure what i was going to do when I asked for her autograph. So anyway, when it was my turn, I went up, we chatted for a second or two, and she handed me a photo. I looked at it, saw it was "signed", thanked her, and walked away.
A minute or so later, something told me to look at the photo closer....it was a PP. So, I decided I was going to go back and ask for a real autograph. I mean, I paid the $5.00 admission just to see her...I didn't care about home products! So, I went back up to her and explained, very politely, that I was a collector of autographs and would REALLY like to have her real autograph, not this PP. She tried to tell me it was real! So we bickered a little for a few seconds or so, then she grabbed the photo and started scribbling on it with a Sharpie(why did she have one of those with her??). So i thought, "Alright. She is cool. She's gonna come through for me". So she hands back the photo, I thank her again, and walk away. As I'm walking, I look at the photo...all she did was put "To Sydney, Love". Wow, are you kidding me? She didn't sign it. So the inscription on this photo is real, the sig is not.
Just wanted to share my experience. I'm glad she has been cordial to most everyone else....just wish I had been one of those people.
