Emails, for the fans only or for everybody?

Hello,
I started a new discussion.
Last time there was an OneRepublic success.
It was via the e-mail, and now, everybody post an success from that band.
I think, only 50% are fan and the other are just Autograph Collectors.
I don't like that, because, for me, an email is for the fans and not for the collectors, who don't even care about the musicgroup/singers...
What do you think about it? This is my opinion.
I'm not going to use an email of singers/bands who I don't know/like.
If I saw a working KISS email, I would not use it, because I don't like them. (example!!!)

This is a classic example of why emails aren't given out here. It only gets abused by people looking for a free autograph or by people who'd like to sell it. I like them but I don't want the autograph. I'm not a big enough fan.

That's true, but that e-mail is very easy to find.
Maybe you could lie, that it wasn't an email address?

If you have an email success though, why do admins ask you post a link to where you got the email address from!?!?
A real fan should be willing to do their own research!!!!!

I thought it was just the site you got it from that had to be posted. But I agree, if you're a big enough fan, find it yourself. Emails aren't supposed to be shared here anyway. They just get abused.

I send emails to certain celebs because I'm a 100% true fan of that person's work or admire their talent. If I don't know a thing about them I'm not gonna send a request, because then a real true fan of that person would maybe miss out on getting one just because I wanted it to 'expand my collection'
a while back I used to be happy to PM emails that I used to other people, but now that I'm seeing more more members on here using them for the wrong reasons, I'm changing my policy and making them search for it themselves as I'm not going to play the 'Favorites game'. That way, if there a true fan they won't mind spending a couple hours maybe even days looking for it, but in the end it will be worth it to them more knowing that they worked to find it.
When I look for emails it takes many many hours of research and a lot of hit or misses.

Yes indeed, I use e-mails most of the time to get my autographs (I'm a beginning autograph collector)
But I wouldn't ask for the e-mail if I wasn't a fan, and then I wouldn't ask for it before searching for it myself first...
Like for example the one republic e-mail... I searched for it myself, and then I asked one of the people who got a success if it was the right now, but it wasn't, so i'll just keep searching for it, and not whine about it that they won't post it
I admit I do have some autographs of people that I'm not 100% fan of... BUT I found the e-mail addresses myself

without the help of anyone else

I used to give out the e-mail too, but I won't do that anymore because most of them can be found with a little research like RYAN J. says
