Last Friday I sent out a VV request to Modest Mouse and the show was tonight (Weds, 8th September). This was my first VV request and I was just wondering how long, on average, does it take to hear back from a VV request.

It can take even a few months. There is no way to answer this. It's an impossible question. We can give an estimate but nothing exact. I'm still waiting on Weird Al Yankovic to reply to me; it's been 2 weeks. I sent to the Black Eyed Peas a month ago. Nothing yet.

I am more than happy with an estimate as I was just wondering wheter they were quicker than writing via agent.

It's definitely quicker, I can guarantee that. With VV, I don't think a lot of people know about it. I don't think they get a lot of mail at a venue. People don't think of looking up a venue address at Ticketmaster, then sending it a week in advance. I recommend sending this way whenever possible, especially to singers and bands.

Also remember you might not get anything at all. Sometimes even though via venue isn't as known as regular fanmail sometimes the artist simply doesn't read it or respond or their management might get ahold of it and it not even make it to them or sometimes ( not all the time) the venue staff doesn't even forward it to them even though it says that venue does. Not saying this would happen but just a heads up it might happen.

Yeah, when I've had via venue success and I have with wrestling stars Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, Arn Anderson and Dirty Jobs' host Mike Rowe, it comes back within seven days after the event.
