When it comes to celebrities c/o agency, I don't think it matters. It will go to the agency and sit there until it gets dealt with, depending on each individual's signing habbits.
Sports personalities and others sent c/o home is a bit different. I usually lay off sending after the first or second week in December, and resume in January. I just don't know how the request will be seen by them at a time like this. They may resent it or they might not mind. But I won't take that chance. I also don't want to take a chance of fan mail getting lost after it arrives at their house during the hustle and bustle of the season.
Also keep in mind the postage rate increases coming up in the US, Canada, and possibly a few other countries as well.

It's gonna take ages to come back either way, so no harm in delays over the holiday season

Re: sending during the holiday season
I tend not to bother during December as a rule. But that said, I have had replies arrive on Christmas Eve before, so don't rule the whole month out. If you know you're getting a quick response, then by all means post away.

I usually wait--it's just a busy time for me and I send to a lot of people who don't have a lot of feedback, so I don't want to have to wrory about it getting lost in the mail.
But I do like GETTING requests during the holidays (TV shows have filming breaks during the holidays, so they can respond to fanmail then), I just usually slow down my requests during the holidays.

Last time I visited the site, just a few days ago, there was a link to the proposed January 2011 postage increases. I always like to hope for the best and prepare for the worse.johnnylightning wrote:Im not sure if canada rates will go up in 2011 because they went up alot last year !
I haven't heard anything official one way or the other, so I'll just ass-u-me it's still on. Better safe than sorry, I guess.Jaffer wrote:I think the USA postage increase has been called off thankfully

Re: sending during the holiday season
I use snailmail all year (and not just to request autographs), December is no exception.
Just keep in mind they´ll sometimes get to read fanmail at their agency or wherever months later... so the celeb might read "Merry Christmas letter" in August, if you don´t. :-P
