i was just wondering what you guys all consider a success. for me, if i get it back, items signed or not, its a success. the only things i consider failures are RTS's and refused returns. what do you guys think?

Same here. I don't consider pre-prints or autopens successes. Definitely not refusals or RTS's.

i actually like perprints, sure, theyre not as good as an actual autograph, but theyre still pretty neat to have.

To me, every thing that I get is a "success" but that does not mean that I believe that everything I recieve is an authentic autograph and worthy to be in my collection. Pre-prints, auto pens, and other such "successes" are not autographs. If it is "signed" by a machine (autopen) or is a copy of an autograph (pre-print) it is just that a copy, and not included. I keep all of my successes for reference but the fakes are kept seperate.

I would probably class any response with their autograph a "success". I would only classify rts/sec as a failure

I consider it a success if I get something back signed, I even consider PP's successes in a way. The only things I don't class as successes are RTSs oubviously .

Techniquely speaking, a "success" is when the address you used yields a reply, whether it's an authentic signature, Autopen, preprint, secretarial autograph, or even an unsigned photo.

Personally speaking, I consider a "success" to be when I receive what I had hoped to receive. For example, I like all my autographs to be personalized. When I receive a simple signature without a dedication, I am happy but not as thrilled as I would be if it was dedicated to me.
