I've read all kinds of things about sending mail via publisher. That read it and decided what top seend on. they toss the mail outand do not send it and some do get sent on to the authors. Any of this true?

I've sent to a lot of authors c/o the publisher and have gotten many replies that way. I know one was HarperCollins and I think Scholastic.

Really? Even if the book was written like ten years ago but the author is still alive?

Yes. I have gotten several this way. Some examples are RL Stine, Katherine Paterson, and Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. {up}

Also how long does it take to hear back on author mail? Is it a really long time?

It depends on the author. The authors I wrote to got back to me in less than a month.

Oh ok. I also think it depends on the publisher. I did read that some publishers through out fan mail. I hope this work i'm run ning out of addresses for Jameson Parker. The publisher address in the database is for his animal book. wrote to it two years ago never heard a thing back. I'm guessing the publisher tossed it out. I sure hope this works. :)
