Depends on the celebrity. Overall, I have nothing against it though. I'd try through the "normal channels" first, mostly out of respect.

I try to avoid it as much as possible. Sometimes though it is the only way and I end up feeling guilty. Saying that though I feel guilty sending most requests or asking celebs in person for an autograph, unless it's a designated signing.
