I'm going to be attending Emerald City Comicon (comics convention) here in Seattle in a little less than a month.
I'm going to bring a couple Sharpie markers along with me for autographs (I know a lot of comics creators bring their own supplies for signatures and sketches but I like to be double-prepared).
I was at the store the other day and there are a ton of choices, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

I read on here before that fine point is the best size to go with. Is that correct?
I saw that they have both silver and gold metallic varieties. I've seen autographs done with the silver ones before, but never the gold. Anyone have any advice on gold vs silver?
How does (gold vs silver) compare to just the plain old black?

They will be used pretty much exclusively for autographs on comic books, with the exception of 2 items: 1 Fringe (tv show) Season 1 box set to be signed by John Noble (lead actor, plays Walter), and 1 Boondock Saints unrated special edition (so much packaging, it looks like a box set) to be signed by Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery (actors, played the McManus brothers).

I personally like the blue sharpie, and it is the color favored by most collectors. They tend to hold up better over time than black sharpies. I always bring a couple with me in case they only supply the celebs with the black ones. I hand over the blue sharpie first, then the item I want to get signed.

As for gold and silver, I assume you are talking about the paint pens. As a precaution, stay away from silver sharpies if you can. They don't always work very well, and when they do it seems as if they are only good for one or two signatures. Another bad thing about them is that if the celeb signs with rapid movements they don't work very well. The paint pens are okay, though, and are best for dark surfaces. If you can find an Art Deco paint pen I'd pick one up just for having it. They are much better than the Sharpie brand, but a friend of mine told me that the company either went out of business or stopped making them.
