1939 Play Ball card

I have a question for anybody out there:

I recently bought a 1939 Play Ball Robert Doerr card. This was the earliest Bobby Doerr card I could find. It is PSA authenticated. I had intended to bust it out of its shell and send it to Mr. Doerr to be signed, but then I thought that the autograph my actually devalue or even damage the card. I am not really concerned with the monetary value of the card; I just want to know if cards this old are typically signed or not. Thanks!

dont break it open you may damaged the card it worth more with psa

send him a reprint instead. In 2003 Upper Deck reprinted the Playball set. Take a $1 card and have him sign it rather than ruin a nice vintage card.

I wouldn't send it, that card is worth a lot of money already.
