Ever wondered if your mail was lost or stolen?

It seems like an interesting question to think about. The mail service is not perfect so what if our mail containing an autograph was lost, thrown out or possibly even stolen? It would not surprise me if some people do look through others mail in hopes to find some money, autographs, or anything worth value that the person in charge thinks no one would notice. Especially autograph collectors because we are not guaranteed a response (unless you order from a particular celebrity on their website and receive a confirmation receipt via-email). Just wanted to hear some other voices. :) Thank you.

Sincerely,
gghi18 :)

I've thought about it; I've gotten way more successes back than not, so I decided it wasn't worth stressing about. Sometimes when I go through a long stretch with nothing, I joke that the mailman must be building up a nice collection.

I know that they get lost (or stollen - i suspect lost).

I have emailed people to ask if it was ok to send them something to sign. Had them reply it was ok. Mailed off my card or photo. Not got a reply for ages. Re-emailed and been told they haven't received it. Sent off another and got it signed. Also had a celeb email me to say they had received the item for signing and had mailed it off, but it never arrives (though they have always been happy to re-sign too).

I dislike the postal service for this. And they also mangle my mail too often!

I buy things all the time on Ebay and online in general. Never had anything I bought get lost by the mail. Damaged yes but never lost and most of the damaged items came from UPS and not USPS. Nobody that is in contact with the celebrity would really want photos I am sending to get signed. I think they might get lost because the celebrity doesnt pick them up from the agency for months at a time and eventually they get thrown out.

I send photos in semi rigid photo mailers and have had the top get caught in some kinda belt at the post office and rip the top off twice. Both times the photos were amazingly still in the envelope when I got them. So if anyone really wanted signed pictures they would have swiped my photos since they were clearly visible.

I every once in awhile think about it, whether its stolen or not. But I don't let it bother me cause at one point or another I get it back.

I go under the assumption that there's such a massive amount of mail that goes around that the odds that anyone would steal mine are slim to none. I also don't put the celebs name on the return address, sometimes I put the initials, most of the time I leave it off altogether. Also, I think if a postal worker was going to risk mail fraud they would steal something more valuable than my autographs :D

I've sent lots of requests for the past 6 months, and in that time period I've only gotten one back.... in March. So, yes, I do sometimes feel like my mail got lost or something like that :(

Something else that has happened to me is I've had the neighbors to me bring our mail over when a new mailman would give our mail to the wrong person. When we moved, we never heard back from the buyers and they never forwarded any mail after the first month from moving (to my knowledge). It makes me wonder if I ever got any responses (out of the numerous letters I sent at that address) and they opened my mail out of curiosity. Why bother to forward it to me when it has been opened and/or take the time to do so. Just a thought. lol :P
