Seeing Daniel Radcliffe's autographs sold on AW...

...really saddens me. Here's the link. http://www.signaturepieces.com/auction/lot.asp?item=703 I will admit, it's nice to see what the autograph would go for. However, I don't plan to sell my collection. I guess people can do what they want with their collection but it's when people sell the celebrities autograph, they begin to stop. For example: Shirley Temple stopped when she discovered her autograph was being sold for profit. I unfortunately, never got a response from her because of that. Anyways, it probably is a matter of time until the Daniel autographs run out.

I was one of the first here on Fanmail to recieve one of the pre-signed 4x6 pictures of him that's being sent out from his play in New York, and the very next day I spotted two on Ebay and that one on Autograph World. I also saw someone else on here selling one that they recieved. It really frustrates me when people do this. Seriously, why send out for an autograph knowing that you're just going to sell it? It ruins things for everyone else. That one autograph could be one that another die hard fan wont recieve. So many people have either stopped signing period, or now charge for their signatures. It's because of people like that that so many celebrities are so hesitant to sign for true fans and collectors.

I couldn't agree more!!! Daniel has been so generous with the autographs and I appreciate it very much because I am a big fan of his. Like we both said, I wish some people wouldn't abuse it though. I am excited to see him in something different with "The Woman in Black." And i am a sucker for ghost stories so it's a win/win for me. lol

p.s. what other stars have stopped signing, possibly because of that? I could only think of Shirley Temple off the top of my head but I know there are more, for sure.

I know of Michael Bell, a veteran TV and voice-over actor, who no longer signs because of ebay. I don't think Frank Welker does anymore, either.

Alan Rickman has flat out said he wont sign anything Harry Potter because he knows it will most likely end up on Ebay.

I can't remember who exactly, but I have seen some celebrities sign autographs and then also write "dont put this on ebay!".

That is pretty sad. I'm glad I got Daniel earlier, and unless I am in serious financial woes I won't sell my collection either. (Let alone the DR one from 10 years ago.)

I can definitely understand people being snippy to others who post VV addresses when they get a success. But it goes with the territory, I suppose.

Official Pix did a private signing with him just this year. was around $450 per autographed photo though. I've also had a couple of friends get him IP on Star Wars items. all depends on his mood at the time.

I had no idea Bell didn't sign anymore! I wrote to him when I was like 11 cause I loved Rugrats as a kid. 10 years later I still have both autographs he sent me. I hate people sometimes...ruining things for real fans and making stars think people are all like that!
Daniel is GREAT with his fans...I have many of his autographs from various venues and from meeting him 4 times...none of which I will ever sell. I hope he never stops because he is so sweet and has always been gracious to me with every meeting, but I am sure the time will come where he will at least stop signing Potter items. Thanks...jerks!
