One year ago today, I received my first success TTM that kicked off a year of sending fanmail...

Well, actually it was my second. I had written to John Williams and gotten a terrific success a couple years before, but it was getting a response from Dick Van Dyke TTM on November 8, 2010 that made me decide to start writing a bunch more requests to some of my favorite actors, actresses, and musicians.

One year later, I've gotten 19 terrific responses (and one in person!). You can see them all below in my signature, but some of my favorites include:

-great via venue responses from Alan Rickman and Geoffrey Rush
-two replies from the wonderful Betty White
-photos and letters from Atticus Shaffer and Neil Flynn of "The Middle"
-three "Star Wars" successes and three "Harry Potter" successes

I just wanted to post this to thank everyone at fanmail.biz (particularly Ryan J., who's given me some great advice), for a great first year of collecting! Looking forward to more. Best wishes and good luck to you all!

Hey man!! Congrats on one full year of collecting! I almost didn't check this topic out, but the title made me curious. I'm glad I could help you out. Wishing you all the best in 2012!!! this year has been phenomenal for me right from the very start! I can only imagine what 2012 will bring for both of us.

A year ago, I never thought this would develop into something I really care about, but it really has. People ask me about it all the time when they see me post a new success on Facebook...they're actually really impressed! I'm taking my collection to my office on Friday...my new coworkers are interested and have been asking to see it.

And, I may have inspired a few people to pick up collecting, as well.

that's awesome! I too post my successes on my Facebook page and I have about 20 friends that I tag in my autograph notes as they love seeing who I get replies from.

Even Cooler!! I remember years ago, when I fist started doing TTM wondering when I'd have enough experience to help other collectors, and now almost 12 years has gone by and I've gotten literally HUNDREDS if not thousands of emails or messages asking me about collecting and how to start, and I always make it a point to reply to each one that writes.
