Whats the Go with IRC's and Photos?

Hi Collectors! 
I sent a letter to Naya Rivera some time in September, but I didn't include a stamp or IRC as I live in Australia or any photos. Does this matter? I sent her a SAE and a letter, but that was about it. Also, how do I get good quality photos so I know for next time and where can I get IRC in Australia? Also, people talk about LOC's or LRC's or something. . .what are they?
