Just to let you all know....I've gotten 99% of my successes in the past 2 years by emailing the right person and I would say 95% of them are authentic. Its just the easy and smart way of collecting nowadays. Everything I would write in a letter I write in an email, its just simpler. I've gotten super huge stars to unknown ones...I will never change, unless their is someone I absolutely want in which the person I emailed said I had to mail something to them.

Sure it's 'easier', but I can tell you from personal experience that some of my best replies have come from actually taking the time & writing to them by HAND and providing items for them to sign and a way for them to reply.

I wouldn't call it 'smart' though, as anyone with a speck of computer sense knows how to send an email these days. It's not rocket science.

90% of celebrities it doesn't matter who you email and what that person's relationship is to them. They won't send you a signed photo. Some of those are probably where your at least 5% that are fake would come into play.

I agree with Usher and Blackhawk! Plus emails get spammed easily then the person stops answering fanmail completely.

I personally don't see an issue with trying to get autographs through e-mail, I only try to get people I really like and am not one of those people that just goes around requesting for the heck of it. Yesterday, I spent a lot of time looking for addresses for Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith. I found Cory on my own and was lucky enough to have someone give me Chris', which I was incredibly thankful for. I sent to Chris TTM back in June with no luck, so I figured I would try e-mail as well. What's wrong with that? I also plan to send to Darren Criss VV when he is on Broadway, and Nick Jonas when he replaces Darren.
Just because you use e-mail doesn't mean you aren't a real fan, or just want an autograph for the sake of having an autograph.
