Hi Spanna :D

There's already a thread on this matter: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?t=23913

I'll be posting up a list of the price changes shortly when I get full details. It's really bad when there is no information on Australia Post's website and no major press releases :x

Prices of anything generally go up all the time. It's a result of inflation, reducing the real value of money. It's about 3% in Australia...which probably isn't too bad when you consider that some other countries have higher inflation rates. This is why your salary/wages increase (umm...that's if you're working!) - to keep in line with inflation.

Well...I, and everyone else will just have to live with the new prices :x

They definitely will get through :)

I was having a look at the Australia Post website today, and had a play around with the postage rate calculator to see what the new prices will be. According to the calculator, the prices below are for a standard letter up to 50g:

Asia/Pacific region - $1.25
Rest of the World - $1.85

Postcards and cards are now $1.20

These prices contradict what Lucas has heard, so I'll drop by Australia Post tomorrow to confirm and check.

Oh yeah....

I went to Australia Post earlier this morning to get some stamps to send out 2 requests, and the employee clearly told me that the price of a standard letter had gone up by 5 cents.

That means, prices are what I had posted in the previous post above (Asia/Pacific region - $1.25, Rest of the World - $1.85 for standard letters up to 50g, postcards and cards are $1.20 - up to 20g.) I got some new $1.85 stamps while I was there - Commonwealth Games ones.

OFF TOPIC: I'm really looking forward to the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games starting on the 15th. Apparently, the Queen's Baton Relay is supposed to be passing by close to my house on the 15th - can't wait!

I have updated these prices in the Collecting Help sticky Ian :D
