sending to personal address or agency address for requests??

Unread post by Banato »

I've sent out probably a dozen autograph requests by snail mail in my day. Several of them have been to a celeb's house. Some have been to an agency that manage's a celeb's affairs. So far, I've had little success either way but the most success has been to agencies. What is your opinion on the best method to use on snail mail requests? There is a great lady on another site that is great at getting home addies but I have a mental picture of these celebs getting a request at their home and the getting pissed off and tearing the whole thing up. I don't know if that's happened but I've yet to get have a response from a personal addy.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: sending to personal address or agency address for reques

well Banato,
i have been only collecting for a year, but i ahve learned a few things about some of this. from what i have found it really depends on the agency. for example when i first started, i sent several to various people to William Morris agency(LA) {down} . and i have yet to receive and kind of response from any of them. so now when ever i see that the person's address is William Morris (LA) {down} i don't even bother. i have not sent to a home address yet. and to be honest i would feel like i was imposing on them. i am not saying that all Agency's are the same as "Willliam Morris" {down} or ("Spanky Productions" is pretty bad too) {down} but i guess it really depends on the person and their manger. i hope this help, as i said i am kind new to this and i am only speaking from what i have found myself.

Sean - Thanks for your input. Some of the celebs that I've sent to home addresses are celebs that may either don't have an agency address or I got RTS from an agency. I am a little bit reluctant to send to a home addy but for some people I think it's worth a shot. I sent Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) a request at his home addy - haven't received anything and that was a month to six weeks ago.
Anyway, thanks for the info about William Morris. I'll keep that in mind. I am not sure if was WM but I sent a request to Sly Stallone and received the request and photo I sent back in my SASE! (unsigned). People I talked to at the time said that sometimes personal assistants do stuff like that...
Do you happen to remember any agency's you've had success with? I may post some that I have...

Take care and good luck,
Banato
