The meaning of pre-prints

Ok, I am new to this website, still learning the lingo and all. But the one thing I am trying to understand is the meaning of the term pre-prints. I have heard it used to describe pictures where I celeb sat down and signed 500 of the same pictures (hence they are the real deal) or where the pictures are printed off with the autograph on it (which is nothing basically). How can you tell when someone says "it's PP" which one they mean?

A Pre signed is were a celeb has signed 500 in advance
a pre print is a computer generated, printed signate and isnt real
A Signature sits ontop of the photo while a PP is part of it

See that's what I thought, but some of the things people were saying in debates on authenticy kinda blurred the difference. Personally I wouldn't mind a pre-signed where as other people seem to hate them. Heck, I'd be happy (though not thrilled) with a stamp or auto-pen because even though it wasn't by hand it is still THEIR autograph, not a staff member (or brother in Terry Bradshaw's case)
