THE NEXT TIME YOU GET A FAKE AUTOGRAPH TTM

First of all, save a copy of your LOR and the next time you get a fake autograph TTM send it back with the phony signed photo and a new photo. Stick a note on the new photo that says: SECRETARY DO NOT SIGN THIS. I DIDN'T SPEND MY TIME AND MONEY FOR A FALSE SIGNATURE, I COULD HAVE SIGNED IT MYSELF. WOULD YOU PLEASE GIVE THIS TO (STAR) AND ASK THEM TO SIGN IT AND IF THEY DO NOT SIGN SEND ALL BACK WITH A NOTE TELLING ME AS SUCH, BUT DON'T INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE. (A little costly but I will try it if I get a fake autograph because I am getting more PO'd about this ridiculous idea of sec. sigs. If the celeb. doesn't sign make it public knowledge, save yourself paying a salary to some bimbo signing fake signatures and stop deceiving your fans.).

I think it's a good idea but should be done in the form of a heartfelt letter.
Also, address the envelope to "assistant" or "secretary" along with the stars name. If they don't see that and they don't read the letter, they'll never know what your request is. Even go as far as to put a post it note on your item.

I recently sent a similar request to the assistant of a notorious secretarial user/non-signer. I will let you know if I get any response.

I put a post it on the item "Mr/Ms. celebrity's name only, please sign"
I addressed the envelope "Attn: personal assistant (above) Mr/Ms. celebrity's name and then address"

Then I sent a one page typed letter explaining how I appreciate the stars talent, I appreciate that no star owes a fan, I understand their normal ttm responses may be signed by the assistant but if an exception could be made, I would most appreciate an authentic response.

I've been lucky with secretarials, in being able to obtain real ones afterwards but only because of book signings or conventions.

Tony Curtis, Carrie Fisher and Richard Dreyfuss did signing conventions, Jerry Lewis and Sylvester Stallone did book signings, though with Jerry they were "pre signed." Also bought Charlton Heston signed book from Nixon library.
I am also sending in for the Dick Van Dyke private signing, where I KNOW I will be getting a REAL autograph.

Good advice and congrats on your book signings. I got one from Arnold S. and he signed it in front of me while sitting at a desk. You had to have the book opened to the page and lay the book on the desk. It was so crowded and they were running out of time for the signing that as soon as he signed it and looked at me an employee of the Barnes and Noble bookstore grabbed me and was forcibly hurrying me away. I yelled out - "Arnold help me, they're giving me the bum's rush". Eveyone was laughing but he just looked at me with that blank stare that he has. Anyway it made it more memorable. Stupid me I had let the guy behind me on line get in front of me when he told me that he was Arnold's friend from Austria and that he went to the same gyms and dated the same girls as Arnold. When he got to the desk he said to Arnold "Do you know me" and Arnold said "Should I" and then looked up and yelled "Mike, how are you?" That held everything up for a good 10 minutes as they talked about old times.
