Say that an autograph is not real to a user....

Unread post by Irantzu »

Hi!

Only I want to know if it is correct to say to another user the autograph he/she recieve isn't real. Sometimes, I see people very happy when they recieve a personalized autograph from a very important star, but the photos are usually signed by the secretaries. Do I have to say the truth? or is it better to say nothing? :?
What do you think?

Thanks!

If they want to know the truth and they ask for it you should tell them.

I don't think it is so much people get mad when you tell them. I would think most collectors would like to know. its just sometimes certain posters make rude comments its almost like its a joy to take away someones happiness over a good autograph. We can't be sure if we didn't see it signed IP but you know what sometimes you can't be sure it might just be the real thing also. I've seen several statements by a rude poster on here claiming something was forged or stamped when in fact the item in question was clearly authentic. We can be objective without the SUPREME EXPERT mentality. Just wanted to say Overall I love this site and lets don't let a few bad apples ruin the joy of everyone else.
Best wishes and Happy Collecting.

I dont like seeing people happy that theyve received a "genuine", when its an autopen or secretarial, so I feel you have to say as if it was me, *I* would want to know, as would anyone.

I agree Andy ,same with me .my point was certain people who are rude and act like they are experts. When sometimes they don't know what they are talking about. I've seen it here a few times and my point was you can let somebody know it may not be authentic without being a Jerk

I would say to only post something like this if you have and can post proof (in pictures) that the autograph is fake. If you don't please don't post anything as it will be likely to cause problems.

Exactly what I was going to say.

If you are just mentioning your personal opinion, and not trying to persuade anyone, then it should be ok.

However, do not post something like this without proof, as Joel said.

"I know for a 100% fact that it is fake"

Any posts with that kind of remark are likely to cause arguments. If you want to post something like that, make sure you can give photo proof.

One person's word, is not a guarentee as to the authenticity.
